This has been my same experience. Literally hundreds and hundreds of keys run in s4 BFA and s1/s2 shadowlands and I have run into almost 0 toxicity.
They actually aren’t. It’s as simple as “just don’t do it”.
You’re wrong. And if you raided maybe you would realize that.
Constructive, lol. More like destructive.
Happens all the time. ALL the time. M+ is soooo toxic. I hope new players don’t go into M+ because they likely will unsub right afterwards.
Yes the current state of the game is destructive and ignoring it is why most of the player base left. WoW about to be the #3 MMO by the end of the year.
Seriously New World will have more players at launch then currently active in SL although that isn’t hard to surpass these days.
Pretty much this. But people are lazy and love to blame others for their own unacknowledged shortcomings.
You might have spotted a few posts asking for M+ to be integrated (somehow) into the random system. I honestly wouldn’t be opposed to this if it stopped whiners from whining about not ever being invited. Because this would solve the first part of the problem. It does zero to help with personal accountability and recognizing one’s limits.
I’d really be interested to see what kinds of complaints pop up if they managed to use random system for M+. Probably Q times?
It doesn’t happen all the time though, does it? It happens to you all the time. Maybe its time to take a look at the common denominator in all these ‘toxic groups’ you run into.
I’m sure it happens. I guess I should have said never, and instead rarely seen it.
I still think that getting rid of cross realm LFG, or maybe offer an option for realm LFG with increased rewards, as a way to make reputations matter again. That’s what I miss.
Don’t you talk about my experiences! I applied for a +2 PF the other day and the group leader literally went to my grandma’s house and pulled the plug on her oven while she was baking me cookies
While I think toxicity exists in the game. I think most people exaggerate the level of toxicity that is present in the game. You have to remember everyone and every thing is so hyperbolic on the forum.
I did check, and Fury is doing great in mythics right now. Something must be going fundamentally wrong in your approach. How long do you spend applying to groups? How many groups? Cast a wide net because it should not be problem getting into a low key right now.
For toxic behavior to be non-existent, everyone needs to not be toxic.
you say this, then you go on for paragraphs crapping all over other people.
you might want to take your own advice.

You know what I was saying don’t try to be coy. Ignoring the problems isn’t the answer. M+ is toxic for a reason and that stigma won’t go away anytime soon and will continue to only get worse.

I have to back up the guy you quoted … My warrior has KSM and I typically out DPS everyone in the group and I still have the most difficult time getting into pugs. Now, I don’t really care too much because I also have a regular group of guildies and friends from other guilds I normally run keys with … But his story checks out. Last I tried pugging, I was 235 with 2010 rating and couldn’t get into a group higher than a +11.
Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand why. Pugging priority is generally Hero > covenant for dungeon >= very high rating > high DPS meta > brez > range > some niche utility … melee class .
Warriors don’t offer anything outside of high damage and there are other classes that can do just as well that have the higher priority criteria I mentioned.
At times it frustrates me, but whatevs. Mythic+ is far better with friends and guildies anyway
Not really. I was really affraid of that when I started tanking… that is why it took me so long to start. Turns out I got almost no toxicity while doing my learning. In fact, I used to get blamed more as a healer.
I did take my time to reasearch routes and understand them, something that a totally new player probably wouldn’t do… but that an old player that is new to tanking probably would.
By “take my time to research” I mean going to weekly route and seeing what was the recommendation for the week.
I do think that just hopping in without any preparation and just hoping to learn as you go is kind of disrespectful of other people’s time. It is ok to make mistakes because you are learning to tank, I did many, but having a plan of what you are going to do is important.
Two important tips I would give to people learning is: stick to using your own keys while learning and be clear about the fact that you are still learning (state it in the group description). You might take more time to fill your group, but you will filter out most of the people that would give you trouble.
For some reason the community makes it seem like nothing below +15 matters, and it’s easy to do weekly +15 and everyone does that, so people generally treat lower keys as quick transitory phase and jump way higher than they should. Nobody realizes that those who time +15 routinely probably have run crazy amount of mythics to learn their way up, or pushed forward in good static groups, or are just top players.
It’s really a general problem of modern social media thing that makes people create unrealistic expectations of real life, because examples of success or crafted success are so visible that it creates a fake high standard.

Have to keep it exaggerated enough to keep people interested but boring enough where they might believe it.

this is really a key part of the problem as to why it can be a challenge filling lower keys.
I’m guilty of it myself. my friends and I typically trade alt carries to get 1 +15 on a week on our alts. Then… often don’t bother doing lower keys because the gear isn’t “worth it”… nevermind that the gear is upgrades in many slots.
that said, any time I have done a lower key… if listed my own, I haven’t had problems filling it (except maybe at like… 4 am), people eventually sign up. or pugging into one myself. I don’t really believe the “I didn’t get a group for hours” people, because I have literally never experienced that. but I’m not shooting above my paygrade. I don’t apply to +15s on my alts who have never done a 12, for example.
I don’t disagree with you on that. But in my experience pugging into 10+ keys as a melee dps is an entirely different story than mythic 0s.
Shut up Karen.
