Sure jerks existed, weâve had them since cave man times when some thug would smack someone over the head with a club and steal his food. They probably outdate prostitution.
The big difference between now and say 15 years ago - anonymity. They couldnât just be d*cks all day, every day and stay in the game. Eventually their bad rep and sh1tty attitudes would catch up with them. To keep going, they had to make a new account, which was also a lot less viable back then.
Sure, if someone was really that overly terrible over a long enough time, theyâd have to make a new character. But that was fairly rare. Besides, folks who wanted to be jerks were there to be jerks, not to beat NaxxâŚif you catch my drift.
And in reality, while some guilds did have black listsâŚwhen youâre working for 3-4 hours just to assemble a group, youâre going to eventually cave in and take that jerky last piece before abandoning the dungeon run.
There is little to stop anyone in the game from being nasty or rude etc if they really want to. It depends on whats more important - being part of a social supportive group and being accepted for important parts of the game, or being âtoxicâ. There will always be, I think, a percentage of people who gain some strange sense of satisfaction from being cruel or nasty, and those you can do little about. Unless they go too far and break the rules and can be reported. But beyond that, you can only hope they get bored and leave.
Just wait till retail players get a taste of the good oleâ days. Theyâre gonna be like âwait what you actually get to earn your mounts in game?â⌠âwait leveing is actually a big part of the game?â âwait raiding is actually fun?â ⌠âwait what does community mean?â
I dont really mind toxicity, when you play an online game or do anything on an online platform youâre gonna come across toxicity, its rather expected. Some if it can even be entertaining however when someone tries to make it out like one side is toxic while the other isnât, then yeah thats pretty shady.
I mean you can try and make it seem like retail players are dumb all you want, a bulk of the retailers played before LFG/LFR, xrealm was released. Considering some forms of content in retail are harder than anything vanilla has to offer I donât think pulling less mobs while leveling is gonna be all difficult for a retail player to figure out. I would think anyone going into classic already knows that currency is scarce and that mounts and epic riding are expensive. Many retailers even played vanilla when it was live.
And considering retailers are still paying to play an arguably bad expansion they arent likely to stop playing a tedious âbetterâ version of wow just because leveling takes longer.
Eh. If I was in that group, and I saw that jerk who was known for ninja looting or purposely wiping the group for fun, or whatever negative thing, Iâd abandon ship and go work on something else before I wasted my game time putting up with it.
I played it. Its not going to be anything new to me. Youâre biased towards vanilla, I get it. Retailers arent all idiots like you make them up to be though. However like I said, you do you.
Im in it for the long haul, both on Classic and Retail.
