Toxic players in retail are going to get a life lesson in classic

Sad life you have. Best of luck though.

I just think that people are taking their sensitivity to an extreme nowadays and getting upset too easily. It is not worth to get anxiety over little things.
Not that I care. I am too old now to care about anything related to social interactions. You guys will get there if you don’t die from too much stress first.

Still projecting.

Cherry up. I’m sure if you act right, you’ll get off that registry list at some point.

I just hope there are not too many professional victims playing classic …

I absolutely agree.

It’s sad how that mentality is in almost any game I’ve seen. There is even a card game I play and years ago, people were friendly, cracked jokes and had more sportsmanship.

The same game, newer age gamers and I see people calling each other names just for playing the game as intended.

Whatever happened to real fun? As Heath Ledger said as the Joker … “why so serious?”

Toxic is just such a general term and its open to interpretation. Example: You’re in a group and you just arrive at the dungeon… “oh crap guys I forgot to restock my arrows… BRB 20 minutes” -Hunter. If a guy responds with “WTF man are you stupid? You’re a hunter how can you not know to do that. We’re replacing you with this guy that’s right here.” Well to an elitist that’s not toxic. Why should they have to suffer from his mistake. And to the average joe… “well mistakes happen. Sure we’ll wait.”

They’ll be welcomed on realms like Herod which are looking to be controlled by the private server crowd.

Every community is going to have its toxic dumpster trash players. The upside is that most of them will be over on retail, or won’t stay here on classic. When they realize they actually have to work for things, they’ll be like ya, “ya, no thanks, going back to LFR where I can do all content in a month.”

No they aren’t. The classic fanbase is just as toxic. Look at all the outrage over right click report and not being able to spell out teenage edgelord crap with skeletons. Watch as they blame literally everybody else for their social awkwardness and palpable rage that they can’t offend with complete impunity then make fun of people who were very predictably offended.

No, I don’t think any lessons will be learned. This community has been the same since vanilla. It’s always been better in-game than on the forums, so we have that going for us, but let’s not pretend the Classic community is this golden bastion of human decency. It couldn’t be further.

The community in general is pretty good. The problem is we’re so big and diverse that there’s always going to be groups that don’t get along. Its that much more clear when it comes to private server crowds vs vanilla crowds vs retail crowds. Even the whole toxic speech thing; personally I don’t think blizzard should police us as much as they do in retail.

You can judge how interested blizzard fans are in a particular project by looking at how toxic the community surrounding it is.

Did you never experience Barrens Chat???

Any reasonable person understands that mistakes happen and that patience is a virtue. I would allow the hunter to go get his arrows because I know if I were in that situation I’d hope for the same courtesy. Any person who would kick him over a simple mistake like that is, imo, toxic and elitist.

I think its toxic. But I really think it comes down to the player. To a group of hardcore elitist who don’t put up with mistakes it might seem justified. Plus if you’re a raid leader and say a player is getting feared into whelps or something… Sometimes its better overall to be a jerk about stuff.

I just hope my experiences with those types of players are kept to a minimum. I thought Classic was supposed to be about community and patience. Trashing someone over simple mistakes ain’t good community.

One of the most toxic players I ever met was in Vanilla, so like… Maybe not? Certain groups will enable abusive and manipulative people.

Sometimes Vanilla felt like a massive cliche culture, with groups hanging out or scorning one another. And they had like… Popular leaders, sometimes raid leaders, sometimes guild leaders, sometimes Warlords or Wannabe Warlords.

not sure if you noticed but you sound super toxic in this post

Its all about what experience you want from the game. If you want to have your full tier 1 set in phase one… You’re probably going to need to be in a serious raid guild where they want you coming fully buffed and knowing the fights and stuff. These guys are going to be toxic real fast when stuff goes wrong.

If you want to play a ret- paladin… Join a more casual guild where your raid leader is a funny drunk who okay with you coming so long as you keep your buffs up and cleanse.

If you want to be able to tell offensive jokes in guild chat; join a cool guild with few liberals in it. Its your experience, you just have to find similar people.

To be fair I have never claimed to be better than anybody else.

This right here is I think worth repeating and stickying, because it encapsulates a great deal of things both in-game and even in real life social situations.

Find a group that works for you. If you’re a square peg trying to fit into a round hole, you’re gonna have a bad time. But you will almost certainly find other square pegs to be yourself and have fun with.
