Toxic player

i’m trying to do the “It’s Race Day in the Ramparts!” and this player, keep killing the NPC and prevented me and other alliances players from doing the quest.

realm: Tichondrius

If the NPC is able to be killed, then no rules are being broken.

You’ll want to remove the other player’s name as posting it on the forums is a violation of the rules.

so i shouldn’t play at all then. ok thanks.

edit: player name removed. so long WOW. tired of this toxic game

I don’t think that a single NPC being killed is a reason to quit the game personally. I’d suggest just finding something else to do for a bit or play an alt etc.

But if you choose to quit over a little PVP, then best wishes in your future gaming

just checked, i didn’t turn on the War mode. i just want to do some quests to enjoy the game. i just want some pve fun. i guess that’s too much to ask.

this is not pvp.
the npc you race against can be killed without warmode enabled.

thank you. is that too much to ask? i didn’t turn on the War mode and that player just keep killing the npc when the race start. so ok don’t do that quest but i already fly all the way to the quest area.

whatever.

You are always welcome to right-click and report a player whom you believe to be cheating or abusing the system. Whether or not the staff will do anything is another story, since the developers programmed this to be allowable. People are allowed to be jerks, unfortunately, so long as they’re not breaking the rules or manipulating the game in a fashion it wasn’t made to be manipulated.

I do understand wanting to get a quest done, but there are other quests you could go and do and circle back around to that particular one.

So, we can kill the opposing factions wheel barrow pusher? That is not nice. Interesting that it is allowed to happen at all. Guess it was a game developer’s oversight.

I agree. I intentionally do not kill the other factions dredger pushing the wheelbarrow because I wouldn’t want them to do it to me. I still see the dredgers as red when they are racing though.

I was running down the path of this quest yesterday (also war mode off) and noticed the attackable nameplates racing past me (I also did not attack them!) and thought it was odd. I agree this must be unintended. Even in war mode, I don’t think this would be intended, either.

Edit: you might want to submit this as a bug report as well.

Flip Warmode ON complete the quest and turn it off. Or, join a group in group finder and phase out of that shard and complete the quest.

There are options at your fingertips here.

That would certainly be annoying, Adorgana - but if an NPC is killable, it really doesn’t violate any of our rules.

I agree que up for some random group in the group finder tool as long as it is not a raid group. You will then phase to a different server and there you will find the NPC you want alive and well.

The Horde used to do this in Westfall all the time. Killing quest givers in a low level area and Blizzard’s reply was always “go get some higher level Alliance to come and kill the Horde”. It’s easier to just go somewhere else.

Yes, a PvP solution for a PvP problem. Why should Blizzard get involved in a situation that the player can resolve without Blizzard interference?

I believe the issue here is that no one is flagged for PvP or in Warmode and killing those NPC’s do not automatically flag you so they can do it with impunity.

As Orlyia and the others said, if the NPC can be killed we usually do not have any rules against people doing so. If you feel it was an oversight, I’d recommend submitting a bug report or a suggestion to request that they be changed.

Generally speaking, if you take a break for a bit the ones doing it get bored pretty quick. Good luck.

But… you do? From the Blizzard Code of Conduct: “Behavior that intentionally detracts from others’ enjoyment (such as griefing, throwing, feeding, etc.) is unacceptable.”

Players intentionally and repeatedly killing a unique NPC that is critical to the functioning of a quest almost certainly counts as griefing…

…Not to mention that there’s a support article for reporting zone disruption, to boot.

[Is it just me or did the code of conduct get much, much shorter? I distinctly remember seeing nice, neat categories of offenses before…]

The NPC is flagged for PVP, so attacking it is allowed. If the devs don’t want it to be attacked then they will disable the flag.

Making NPCs attackable was intentional from the beginning as an effort to encourage world PvP fights. TM vs. SS was the most memorable of those world PvP fights.

I don’t remember seeing a PvP flag attached to the dredger. [In fact, when I attacked players attempting to do the WQ in War Mode, the dredger’s nameplate didn’t even show up, it would only show the nameplate of the player in the wheelbarrow.]

Bah. If only the WQ in question were up right now so I could verify that.

EDIT: The dredger is NOT flagged for PvP, and thus, opposing faction players can attack it with complete impunity.
