Hoping we can get a fix for this exploit because it’s the norm for melee in sunwell speedrunning right now.
Basically you use the toshley teleporter (cancel it within 0.5 seconds of the cast ending, by alt+f4’ing out) and you stack certain teleporter debuffs to get increased size as a melee, meaning you can attack bosses from outside of the normal melee range. This exploit, if not fixed, will carry on to WotLK and allow melee to attack onyxia during air phase, for example. I imagine this is unintended, and it should be looked at.
I knew about this early on when I found out by accident but didn’t think anything of it. But yes, if you simply pull the plug on your internet or power during the cast time, the game will USUALLY not eat the CD. But the debuffs still occur. This means you can repeatedly use the trinket in hopes of getting desired debuffs. If you wonder how people got numerous debuffs, that’s how. You could, in theory, just log out for the CDs, but this is faster.
Should post in bug reports and they’ll get around to fixing it 5 month’s later i’m pretty surprised this wasn’t brought up earlier. More so since Onyxia is a raid itself in Wotlk.
Works because melee hit boxes are not yet normalized. They are suppose to be 100% normalized in Wrath, as it was back then. Why do I know this? Cows were complaining that their melee reach advantage was killed off in 3.0.2
TLDR True Wrath does not have increased hit box sizes for any situation, not even under hero, or popping the pots from WS or even cows or ogre suit.
If the game goes live with out the hit box normalization it’s a mistake and needs to be corrected.
Simply going with true wrath in terms of normalized hit boxes, eliminates the above concern.
