Didn’t realize you were the original designer of torghast. That fact you know that it isn’t meant to be challenging would suggest you’re on the design team and know all about it.
If it was solo content, why are you able to group and do it?

Me on MW monk and hubby on BrM monk.
I had this boss just now in a tier 7 run. I died twice but downed it the 3rd time. Then the final boss…COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE. I am running a 193 Prot Pally.
This is a false equivalency, you didn’t need 5mask to craft a powerful legendary thats essential for your class moving forward or to stay competitive. And level 8 isn’t max. There’s supposed to be a non ending one that bases rewards on how far you get. From what I hear its purely for cosmetics, which is a nice change.
Okay, but the majority of Soul Ash also comes from layers 1-4, which can be done by just about anyone in Heroic Dungeon gear. And people definitely complained about having to do Horrific Visions to craft the legendary cape which was mandatory for N’zoth, many parallels in the complaining, actually. Even though just a full clear was needed for max benefit.
So you can reliably craft and upgrade a legendary without stepping into the aggravatingly hard part of Torghast.
And IDK about Twisting Corridors, but for what we have right now, layer 8 is as high as it goes, so it really is the hardest difficulty for those wings. Those wings are also where the Soul Ash comes from.
Be careful, introducing logic and reasoning to the Anti Torghast Hate Group will result in harassment and name calling.
You have also been bouncing to every possible thread and being condescending to them as a group, so don’t pretend like you aren’t provoking it lol.
I attempt to make people less annoyed with content by providing a different viewpoint. But I don’t come down on them for thinking what they think.
You just derailed your argument here b/c this is why it isn’t parallel. If all of the soul ash was attainable from the first 4, then yeah, you could make the argument its the same, but it isn’t.
Everything past that initial clear was purely cosmetic. In this case it isn’t. And getting max soul ash is important for those who want to get their legendary upgraded.
Falling behind because you weren’t the right class not only feels terrible for those classes, its a gross failure of game design as well.
No I didn’t.
You can craft a legendary and keep it updated with only 75% of the weekly possible Soul Ash, so they really are the same thing unless you start splitting hairs under a microscope.
A player who clears 8 layers of Torghast instead of 4 walks away with a little more power at the end of the week. Same goes for someone who cleared a 5 mask every week instead of just a full clear. Your original statement was refuting me with
And you don’t need to clear two layer 8s a week to stay competitive with your legendary, layer 3s will do it. So what is the problem?
Oh no, he is definitely trolling. He can try to use the excuse of differing opinion, but the more replies you read the more you realize his intent is to get a reaction out of people, not the discussion itself.
I can tell you that after blizzard’s hotfix/nerf of Torghast today, I managed to beat Wing 2, layer 8… whereas just yesterday I kept getting wrecked by the floor 2 boss. So right now, I’d say it’s manageable if you play your cards right and get some decent anima combos.
But beating L8 in both wings offered no achievements or additional rewards. Oh well.
From what I understand from multiple people telling me is that:
Layer 8:
Straight from Blizzard is “the lower your item level the more difficult Layer 8 is.”
Not just the very intuitive “of course the lower gear you have the more difficult content is” concept, but a scaling mechanic.
For example below item level 200 it is scaled to be harder the lower your item level to the point where it can be impossible for any class that doesn’t get extremely lucky with weird healing/damage powers proccing in your favor or just straight up exploiting like monks getting 6 minutes of immunity and then just killing bosses by vivifying their multiple pets and themselves to AoE cleave the boss.
It is apparently a weird cut off feature to force you to progress item level wise before doing layers 7 and 8 even if you breezed through the other layers.
It has more to do with the RNG of powers than anything else since the alla roudn nerf.
Prior to nerf non-interrupt classes had a rough time with things.
Now undergeared is just soulcrushingly slow and rng linked.
That said there seem to be groups rolling at all hours. I had no trouble getting a layer 8 even for my fresh 60 priest.
