Torghast concept is good, design is poor

So druid and worgens went above and beyond to be able to mount? Got it. Blizzard can do no wrong in your eyes.

You keep saying this, and yet you have no proof. People ask you in every thread to please direct them to your evidence of this claim, and yet, surprisingly enough, no evidence is ever given.

You can say that grass is purple all day long, but until you show us some purple grass, we’re just going to keep believing in all the green we can see with our own two eyes.

That’s part of the problem though, ALL anima power builds used to be okay in Beta, but now due to retuning by Blizz without letting the testers get some time with it, it makes us have to become barrier tanks (if we even get the option) or restart the run. That’s not fun. The difference between Torghast and other roguelikes is that you don’t feel completely gimped by taking some powers, even if they’re worse. Some specific examples are the arcane damage turning people into objects when I’m playing FROST (so my only arcane damage is AE), or the ability that causes you to summon mawrats with your refreshment table, or dimensional blade, etc…

There are too many useless anima powers mixed into the pool now, with much harder mobs than were in beta, that your chance of getting any sort of meaningful power boost from anima powers is massively lowered compared to beta.

They are either a Blizzard employee or the biggest white knight ever. I’m guessing a employee or employees because they are in every thread 24/7

Certain races/classes are exempt from this rule purely due to lore reasons, this does not at all clash with the zone’s theme and matches well with how Ion and the dev team initially envisioned the zone would be.

Uh, no.

But, I agree with a lot of the rest of what you have to say.

It needs a serious re-design. If anything, make it more rewarding for the time spent. Make it inclusive. Make it entirely soloable, and maybe scalable. If they insist on making some layers designed for groups, then make it doable with 2-3 people.

Right now, it seems like a patchwork of ill-thought out design.

i’d wager the original intent was to never let any class have a faster movement speed outside of cooldowns in the maw… but that they caved to outcry…

I’m still trying to figure out what my motorcycle is scared of.

This content has been solo’d by many players at the highest layers, and the reward system is perfectly balanced! Players who either do not have the gear or skill required for the higher layers can do the lower layers for most of the dust. The higher layers offer little dust for this very reason, it was designed for players who enjoy being challenged. If players do not wish to be challenged, they also have their own progression path. This caters to both types of players, so what’s the issue with that?

Can you please just stop posting the same drivel?

Hasn’t the message gotten across, given how many of your posts are flagged on a daily basis?

Oh, I’ve cleared the top layers that are unlocked every week. I’m ilvl 188 now, was 181-182 when I did them Tuesday night. I love a challenge. I thought Torghast was made to challenge our gameplay skills. It doesn’t.

I’m not complaining because I can’t do them. I’m complaining because they’ve been turned into a slog of damage-sponge mobs with no entertaining or engaging mechanical differences between one five-minute rotation and the next.

Tupac reminds me of orange gesus… Torghast is perfect, even better than perfect, i didn’t realize i was so good at perfect…

The Mawrat summoning can be useful since you can use them like a bomb. That plus the polymorph bomb, plus undead polymorph will give you a poly target to draw a boss into so you can do some damage up front. That one would also let you cap the HP gain from the power that increases your health every time you kill a mawrat. Dimensional blade frequently leave you with 5 stacks of shimmer which can be good for kiting elites, especially if you run Lonely Winter in Torghast, it would be even better if the mirror images left by the power that causes them to spawn when you blink taunted which they don’t seem to.

I agree that we need more options than stacking barriers to get through the trash floors, but the only questionable one you listed is the Arcane one. The rest all have a solid use depending on what items you’ve already gotten.

I think blizz needs to really front load the challenge to early floors. If we get most of our strongest powers on floor 1, then we can know if RNGesus has blessed or cursed us and continue or end the run accordingly. This is far better than getting all the way to 6 and finding that we cant do enough damage.

Plus, it’s more fun to get the challenge out of the way early and then just smash the rest of the floors with crazy powers.

Which would require some foresight to determine what you’re getting throughout the rest of the dungeon, which we don’t have. The difference I’ve observed from playing other successful roguelikes such as Hades and Dead Souls is that the powers, on their face have useful effects to clear floors, but the secondary effects can chain to elevate your power even higher than what the base power does, and Torghast doesn’t do that. At least in beta, it was forgiving enough that you felt like you could clear it, even if your builds didn’t completely come together.

Edit: And if they were trying for a Risk of Rain style of roguelike, there aren’t enough anima drops throughout the 8 floors for you to spin the wheel enough to compensate for bad RNG

Again, all I simply did was address your concerns. Where in my post was it “drivel” or nonsense:

Patchwerk says hello.

they should have gone with 3 floors in each layer not 6. more puzzles and traps that we can turn off.

we fight and kill mobs every place we go. could have changed the tower to little less of hack and slash.

Dude, this white knight stuff is hilarious. Since I figured out that you’re just trolling it actually cracks me up. There is no way someone could actually be that stupid to think Torghast is balanced in the slightest - that was what gave you away. But gg though - keep on swallowing that pill.

I all honesty though - they need to drop that anti-afk BS and let us do this content at our own pace. Getting rushed and punished throughout the run every few seconds is trash, plain and simple. At this point I would rather get hit by a car than step foot in Torghast - blizz straight ruined it

Stop repeating this lie about WOTLK numbers, they specifically excluded both WotLK and Cataclysm from their recent sales records, AND called them “pre-sales” and not “pre-orders”, which is talking about people paying the full 60$. Show me any article that says most subscribers ever. Not “in the last 10 years in the same launch window”, EVER. Anything less is a complete dodge of the WotLK numbers.
