Took 45 mins to level 60-70 at the pre-patch event

Fortunately, they have updated the event so it is no longer 90% waiting. Now it just alternates between memories and the big boss while the zone is up.

I also got the heirloom ring today, you get 20 of some currency from the three zones (one from most mini events, five from each big boss) and infuse them into the blank ring that is 25 of the regular currency at the vendor.

I wonder how people get this fast. I try to get in there with a LV40 priest but the whole location is empty and I canā€™t even use the custom group search.

Weird take, but to each their own.

Iā€™m in the world to experience itā€™s story and explore. Not farm mobs in order to progress. If thatā€™s the experience I wanted, Iā€™d go play Ark. And I have played Ark. Great game (terrible devs, terrible optimization).

But in an MMORPGā€¦ I want to roleplay as a gnome or elf or whatever and take part in an epic story, ideally a high fantasy if I can get it. That means not running out of quests.

EDIT: Also why things like the frog farm in Remix are terrible (regardless of whether anyone considers it a bug). I will grind if I have to in order to accomplish what I want, but I wonā€™t enjoy it at all.

Nope, I just leveled one of mine and it took about the same amount of time.

Dungeon boosting was a massive problem in Classic.

If thereā€™s anything that Classic proved about the leveling experience, itā€™s that many people will do whatever they can to skip it or make it as short as possible.

Are you kidding? it made we want to cry, or punch my monitor. Luckily later in the game I married a Cleric who was so nice and helpful many on Povar made sure she got her rez stick. Now Iā€™m longing for the things EQ had that WoW does not. why did I see this topic? oh well, I will listen to some EQ music as I play WoW.

I like to joke about everything and my best EQ one was when someone was again complaining about getting killed by Kizdean Gix, who spawns in front of Befallen (omg, so many memories there) and I said in chat, ā€œsilly rabbit, Gix is for kidsā€ and got a lot of lols.

I got killed by Kizdean Gix about 4 times I think.

1 hour or less sounds right for 60-70

I remember the DF prepatch event for 50-60 was about 1 hour

Wrath was the last expansion where the majority of players did not have a max level character.

Yes, people played just to level. The game actually began before max level.

Yeah, I should really try to level more toons in these ways, but Iā€™m not that into the game.

I canā€™t even get 1 character to level 70. Itā€™s way too boring.

I really wasnā€™t though, in the terms of percentages. Death was a 10% loss, a Resurrection restored 90% of it, So 1% xp loss. Maybe iā€™m a bit bias on it, being that my max level characters were a bard and cleric pretty much quit entirely with TPOPā€™s release so cant speak for anything beyond that.

I find it comical that you find retail leveling boringā€¦ yet you got a 70 in classic.

Seems a bit odd to me.

1st vanilla toon was a mage and I spent 57-60 farming the skellies in wpl for runecloth. I agree it was anything but fun.

Ugh, donā€™t remind me about cloth. I saw that other thread about bringing back first aid and I started having flashbacks.

Whatā€™s odd? Vanilla leveling is infinitely more engaging than DF. DF enemies are all made of paper and do 0 damage. I have all my gear and my weapon removed and itā€™s still easier than levels 1-5 in vanilla.

Vanilla just takes way way longer.

Tbh, the desire to level 50 alts to max is the insanity, not the speed. Why on earth would anyone want this??

Professions that arenā€™t hard for alts to catch up on, wind up being worthless for making gold. The more hard gates on crafting the better.

Unrelated, but dying to know. How is it possible to reach level 21 and have 0 achievement points. I wouldā€™ve thought surely thereā€™d be SOME achievement that is obtained by then? I mean, if Iā€™m understanding the forum correctly, youā€™d have to be using some alternative account instead of your main for posting, but I still donā€™t get how you have not even a single achievement point on that account.

Arenā€™t there achievements for stuff like hitting level 10, 20, etc? Or does having a private profile just hide achievement points? Genuinely curious.

Probably an old character from pre achievements. Achievements are not granted until you log in with the character. Level squishes send previously high level characters down pretty low. I think my previously level 60 warlock from vanilla might be down to like 20 now?

Edit: they also have their profile hidden, might just be that, honestly.

Making gold isnā€™t my goal. Being able to craft my own stuff is. And it definitely is hard if you donā€™t have deep pockets, lots of friends, or a lively crafting order system (I came to DF long after the system died).

As for gatekeeping crafting, thatā€™s a ridiculous thing to say, imo. Zero reason to do that.
