I work full time and have 2 kids. I don’t have time to write out something elaborate.
I tried mage, rogue, warrior, priest all 3 specs each. Prot War has the least buttons of them all. I am a PvPer, but enjoy all content so I see things through a PvP combat lens.
While its fun to have a lot of old abilities back, you didn’t take away any new abilities. You basically just gave every class/spec every spell from every xpac.
I don’t have time for this bs. I like playing the game, not stressing over spells to chose from and if my finger can reach letter Y while holding Ctrl down. Get real Blizzard or lose subs. My buddy who got me into the game already unsubbed from this. He had already prepurchased DF too. What a waste
Mage and Warrior absolutely do not have many buttons for the core of your damage at all. It sounds like you’re stressing about all the niche and situational buttons that you rarely need to press. Are you really sure they have that many?
You can’t get 2200+ in arena not worrying about all the spells. Plus the principle of being forced to spec a certain way or to not play to the best of your ability to save keybinds is absurd to me. But thank you for the post, it is a good thought.
Macro your help/harms, e.g. renew + shadow word: pain should be on one button.
Take as many passives as possible on the talent trees.
Hotkey more than just 1-6. Hotkey F, G, T, Z, X, C, V, F1, etc.
Use numbers for specific functions that exist acroas classes, e.g. opener on 1, resource builder on 2, dot on 3, resource spender on 4, heal on 5, interrupt on 6, and always use this scheme across all specs
Assign spells to letters that remind you of the spell name or function, e.g. put your dispel on D, put your bubble on B, etc.
Hotkey CTRl+[insert keyboard button here]. Assign similar spells to the CTRL+[key]. For example put lightning bolt on 4 and put chain lightning on Ctrl+4.
Try a controller addon and playing with a controller. There are many hotkey options on controller.

There are quite a few redundant abilities. Like… I have arcane shot… does that mean Im going to use it or add it to my bar? laughs in bm
If you are struggling that much, 5-10 minutes… google a guide for the class/spec.
There are very few classes I struggle with too many buttons, only war would make that list as arms.
Turn on them extra action bars. Add some shift/alt keybinds to 1-12.
Play Demon Hunter, BM Hunter or DK. All there damage comes from 2 spells. Problem solved. Easier classes are already in the game, not all classes need to be 2 buttons.
Unless something massive has changed, everytime I look at post-arena damage break BMs damage break down is basically “pets go zug zug”. Unholy isn’t that much for damage either tbh. Keep the dot up, build wounds, break wounds.
12 key mouse.
12 with no modifier.
12 with shift modifier.
12 with alt modifier.
12 with ctrl modifier.
Also middle mouse button, and your tab keys.
If you are a pvper like me, you have no backwards button, just strafe left/right with forward. (My keybinds for these A,S,D)
Q,W,E,R,T,F,V,G are also base keys I use + modifiers with shift.
