Too late to start?

Is it too late to start WoW classic? I’ve been thinking of playing classic, but with tbc presumably coming out soon I feel it could be better to just wait. If I start now would it be hard to find groups for dungeons?

This is why we need fresh servers

The server you pick strongly influences what content your character will reliably play through.

Its def harder than it wouldve been early in the classic cycle. Howerver, it depends on server, the amount of playtime and when you play.

At this point you’re better off waiting to see if they launch fresh servers.

It’s never to late!

Also what everyone else has said.

I’d say unless you want the new races start leveling now so you don’t have to during TBC

If it’s fun to you, then start away! What i’d highly recommend if you want a good amount of people leveling with you is to go ironforge.pro and look at the higher pop servers. Most of those servers still have plenty of lowbies running around. I’m leveling an alt over on Faerlina and i found dungeon & elite quest groups decently easy.

Try it for a bit and if you enjoy it, then great. If you don’t, you can maybe wait until pre-patch when leveling xp requirements could be nerfed.

Once you hit 60, again on those higher pop servers plenty of MC, ZG, ONY and BWL pugs are running every week to gear up your character if you wish. Guilds usually always recruiting for Naxx

There are a lot of similar threads, and the answer seems to be, “No. It isn’t too late.”

Pick a High population realm. You can do most dungeons until the “mara spam” range 30+.

At that point its more tough luck. try active hours and you might get a group for the higher level dungeons.

i took a screenshot from warcraft logs and rearranged the classes, based on my theory of what classes will be most to least popular, with many meeting in the middle. tbc is very balanced compared to vanilla.

Yea…Blizzard has allowed the incredibly toxic practice of selling and paying for ‘runs’ to flourish. As a result dungeon runs at lower levels are very hard to find.

You think that Paladins will be the most popular Horde class for a TBC Classic?

That’s an interesting take, and certainly seems consistent with some of the opinions about Seal of Blood that I’ve read. It will be interesting to see how it actually plays out.

Belves were definitely quite popular the first time around. For some reason, I have sort of suspected that they won’t be very popular this time, but maybe that’s just me.

Looking forward to seeing what actual numbers are like.

well, its a theory based on the following:

  1. a brand new class for horde
  2. exclusive feature of a brand new race for horde
  3. includes upgrades for all paladins, arguably making them better than warriors at dungeons, heroics and several raids
  4. their armor fits - et. al, shoulders not too big, etc. they can wear just any old thing and look good
  5. by virtue of being exclusive to a single race, they also benefit from their racials
  6. seal of blood is much better than the alliance equivalent
  7. new leveling areas so change of scenery
  8. their own low level quartermaster who offers nice gear upgrades in the 10-20 bracket.

We’ve had Blood Elves on the Horde since the release of BC like what? 15 years ago, but for the Classic series, you’re right.

Do you mean tanking or DPSing? Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how it actually plays out.

For PVE DPS only, right? And just how much better? I didn’t play on any private servers, but my understanding is that Vanilla was much more popular than TBC for private servers.

In any case, none of the server-side code, including spell behavior, on private servers is Blizzard code, and the current generation of gamers hasn’t played TBC Classic yet, so we’ll have to see how accurate this is.

I found this post comparing Seal of Blood with Seal of Command from the time when TBC was current content. It is somewhat interesting:
https://www.engadget.com/2007-11-27-the-light-and-how-to-swing-it-command-vs-blood.html

This is only really true for PVE DPS still, right? How many Horde are going to roll Paladins because they want to play Ret?

Anyway, I am curious to see just how popular blood elves in general, and also paladins are Horde side, come TBC Classic. For some reason I don’t think either will be as popular as they were the first time around, but who knows… maybe 90% of Horde will be Belves in TBC Classic!

yeah because tbc private servers would go almost all horde and people lose interest if there’s no one to pvp/arena against. kinda frustrating to wait in long queues for bgs, just ask retail horde. haha

it just adds spicy to the already spicy that is a new class/race combo with decent racials, great aoe tanking, heals, buffs, new leveling areas and helpful features like a low level quartermaster (the only race to ever receive such a feature)

Arenas are team vs team. Faction doesn’t matter. I also suspect that a lot of people who play WoW do not care about nor participate in BGs or Arenas, but that’s purely speculative.

Every race on that faction has access to that leveling area.

It will definitely be interesting to see how things pan out this time around. Looking forward to it!

they do but take tauren for example - they still gotta get to orgrimmar and then undercity to use the orb to silvermoon. chances are they are already a high enough level that the quartermaster will barely help by the time they have enough faction to buy the stuff. really, only forsaken would benefit comfortably, from belf zone perks]

me too. gonna roll me a draenei or two. …or three lol. and a belf for nostalgia. belf will likely be a lock or mage and never level past ghostlands. just to soak up the nostalgia.

Ummm… Shamans are not going to be more popular on alliance than horde.

thats why i said mages, shaman, locks and druids would be nearly equivalent. i assumed more alliance shaman for the same reason i assumed more horde paladins - et. al, new class, new race.
