Too late to start WoTLK?

Returning player just wondering if it was too late to start fresh in WoTLK. I’d probably make a DK. Any input is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Well I’d say yes it is too late but it’s perfect timing to get into Cataclysm. You’ll probably have like a month or two to get to max level and get geared up but I’m sure you’ll enjoy that.

Oh wow, didn’t realize Cata was so close. Guess that’s what I will do then. Thank you very much.

Way too late. They don’t make content for late arrivals. You are expected to log in day one and keep up with all the wow addicts.

It’s never too late if you RMT in GDKPs, which is the majority of what you’ll find currently active in WotLK for raids. It’s a ghost town outside of that.

People keep asking this and most responses are worse than the question. Only YOU can decide if it’s worth it, not strangers on a forum. That said, the wrath ship has sailed and will soon sink. If you’re just starting now, it’s not going to be much more than prep time for cataclysm. Blizzard has done said the season ends April 15th. That means cataclysm is coming a few weeks later. Take that for what you will.

I can also decide for him… :sunglasses:

looking at the roadmap it says the sod patch is right before cata prepatch so we’re next in line. we’re in spring now and they said the second half of the year so we’ll prolly get it in may or early june, and launch in july. they can’t wait too long because retail tww is also summer.

tldr; you’re late, lvl alts now and gear what u can.

Negative I constantly run into players leveling as I level a pally and hunter to 80 recently and started on a rouge now

Are the “other players leveling” in the room with us now?

The lying on this forum is SO bad. Literally people just have to log on to see how dead it is :joy:

Lol yea that coz the 4 character I started leveling in various starting area have seen more people than in retail. In fact as I was leveling mining on my pally saw more than a handful of people in duskwood. But you believe you.

If you wanna play cata then id suggest just work on hitting 80 and get the professions you want to use up to snuff. If you have alts you wanna play work on that second. Dont worry even a little bit about gear cause its all gonna be irrelevant after a few hours of cata zones anyways. Hitting 80 and profs are way more important than any possible gear upgrades you will replace at the latest in deepholm

It does speed up the leveling process quite a bit if you have end expansion raid gear and you usually only replace those pieces as you’re hitting max level(with some pieces remaining relevant into heroic dungeons)

An acquaintance of mine said that playing WoW these days is like riding a wave. It needs to be done at its crest lest you get pulled under and stuck in the muck.

WoW is easiest to enjoy when you are there and “prepared” for the release of the current patch, as you will have an easier time of finding groups for multiplayer content.

You could probably max that DK in 72-96 hours of play-time, and get to 245-251 iLvL in a week if you spam RDF for heroics and gammas.

Plenty of time to max professions, unlock 280% flight and be ready to go for Cata. DKs will be in demand for the next expansion.

Youre absolutely right and if he can get some gear than thats great but id argue it will save far more time doings profs first if you dont have infinite time to catch up before launch. Im definitely not trying to say DONT get gear but rather dont prioritize it over leveling your primary profs and alts etc.

Heroic ICC gear gets replaced by ilvl 308 dungeon blues at level 78. Two levels below WoTLK max level.

You made an attempt here. Not sure what that attempt was, but you did it. Read back what you wrote really slow.

Heroic ICC gear (ilvl 277) gets replaced by normal mode dungeon gear (ilvl 308) in Throne of Tides, which you can enter at level 78 when Cataclysm launches.

Are you having trouble comprehending what I’m saying? Heroic LK weapons are replaced 30 minutes after Cataclysm launches at level 80.
