The biggest grind so far is the Heart of Azeroth, and opening essence slots. Having catch up mechanics at this stage really isnāt a big retail killer and helps those with alts, but the HOA is actually what will hinder most.
You can get 385 benthic even easier getting it boa, but getting all slots to 425 is not a few hours of work, itās several days of grinding pearls.
And getting to world quest, emissary gear you donāt get a big jump right away either, as those levels are directly correlated to what your current item level is.
Itās an e-peen / relevance thing. A lot of Anti-Retail proponents donāt like how the gear gap between casual and hardcore is currently so narrow. It makes their e-Peens shrivel and their relevance as a player fade. When the gap was much wider as in Classic, they felt like kings.
What truly astounded me though was just how many of these types of folks there are.
I mean if my friends had to leave the gsme for a few months or a few years Iād like for them to be able to play with me somehwat quickly when they come back.
If i have a 3 week business trip, I donāt want to be like āwell i was gone to long, time to have a funeral for all my in game goalsā
Catch up systems are good for the game. And if you are sad that gear comes easy then go play classic where you go months without seeing anything good at end game cause you are competing witb 40 other players for 3 pieces of loot.
Update 1:
I was able to pug my way into 2 +2 groups, the first one, the server went went down before we finished, but we completed the second one just fine, so now Iāve got a key all my own.
