TONS of shaman notes in this weeks alpha notes!

Jk

More work done for mages, paladins, monks, warlocks, death knights…. Pretty much all the same classes that have been getting attention.

u forgot lock like all the others week

I actually have been enjoying destro in S4 and to think it’s only going to get more awesome. Simpler rotation, maximum damage. Bloated piano class, mediocre dps.

Im not agains it t al I like lock. Just wish we could of got 6 week of rework too each week

That’s what is crazy to me. Warlock imo already feels smooth and fun to play, destro at least. And it’s getting lots of polish.

Ret paladin got massive amounts of work done in DF and is constantly getting more and more polish.

Meanwhile entire classes are being completely ignored. It’s just really crazy to me. Shout out to our hunter cousins. RIP lunge

Just seen that some new totems been shown. Was excited for a sec thinking its a little rework. But after few tough prob the ‘‘Rework’’ on surging Totem for totemic they were talking about

Well to be fair Affliction needed help, and the notes look great. (Warlock/Shaman Main).

We did get new totems datamined it’s something and totemic is fully implemented now, it’s very minor but something.

SHAMAN

  • Totemic
    • Totemic Hero Talent tree is now fully implemented.

    • New Totem model for Surging Totem added.

They do look nice.

More is coming, I’ll be honest I’m more frustrated they gave Humans Shamans double Hearthstone but better.

  • New Human Racial: No Place Like Home – Your Hearthstone cooldown is reduced by 5 minutes and gains an additional charge. Replaces Diplomacy.

Seems like Shaman is losing more and more of its uniqueness as time goes on. So they get essentially our Astral Recall but better .

That totem does look nice imo. But isn’t that just for surging totem? Tauren are legit still using 2004 quality totems lol.

All core races are using the Totems they’ve gotten really on launch, I think Draenei where the only ones that got an update I believe in MoP, which still todays standard is outdated.

Troll, Dwarf, Orc, Goblin came a little later look just as bad as the Tauren too . Heck they can upscale Pandaren too.

All Shaman Core Race Totems need updates desperately.

I was just thinking this

Also, if that is surging totem, it just goes to show how they absolutely don’t care about shamans. They couldn’t even make the totem race specific, its a generic one off. If we were druids, they would be one for each race + customizations on top of it

Exactly.

I play Tauren mainly so I really like the design they chose, but it doesn’t really fit with most races.

When? Honestly, when? “Next week for sure bro” x7. Alpha will be over soon. Nothing is coming, I’m done hoping.

At this point I think it’s safe to assume shamans just aren’t getting a revamp. We’re going to be stuck with hero talents that don’t play nice with spec tree and don’t even fulfill the basic premise they’re meant to. We’re going to still not be wanted in M+ because we’re squishy with a hard AoE target cap and very situational utility.

They’re not making changes, there’s been basically no communication from them. They just do not care.

Human new Racial is worse than Astral Shift unless you’re actively using it every 10 mins like 4 or 5 times in a row. The Vulpera and DID racial has many more use cases even on much longer cooldowns. I can count on one hand how many times I needed to use Astral on my Shaman

I agree with you.

If you put emotion aside and look at it logically:

  1. They plan on making some big changes

    • Telling the player base is only good for them.
    • Not telling the player base is only bad for them. (They might lose players who think nothing is coming)
  2. They plan on shipping shaman as is

    • Telling the player base is only bad for them (Players won’t buy the expansion if the class they play isn’t getting changes)
    • Not telling the player base is somewhat bad (they might lose some players, but some may still have hope and buy the expac)

The totem look great but I find it weird it doesnt fit the race anymore. Like they should just remake a visual for all older totem and keep the race as Surge totem. I dont want gryphon on a goblin or something. Also they look so good would fit Dwarf or Tauren so much more

You missed #3, logically it would make much more sense to do the “big changes” prior to or at least at the same time as testing hero talents. Almost all feedback on the hero trees without those changes is essentially useless as it would play differently with things being changed. Since we have the hero talents now yet have no changes we can only assume that no big changes are coming.

I hope that’s not the case, because if is then it means some not very nice things about Blizzard and those managing it. The fact that Mages, Paladins, warlocks, etc got revamps and now multiple weeks of lots of changes shows their priorities are moronic to put it politely. On top of that other classes are actually getting communication where we got one thread announcing Farseer and they couldn’t even be bothered to do threads for Stormbringer and Totemic. I can’t even imagine how they thought fully releasing enhancement totemic with zero updates based on feedback was a good idea. It’s not even good on paper so wasting a week or more testing it is just god awful time management.

The thing that makes it worse for me is that there seems to be a real lack of shaman players in alpha giving feedback. They at least need to invite a few more people for the lesser played classes/specs. There should be multiple posts about enhancement totemic being really really bad, but alas there is 2 posts. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and if people aren’t posting based on the assumption of a non-existent rework it’s only going to hurt the class/specs.

The sad thing is the hero talents don’t even work with the existing trees. At least Stormbringer for elemental and Totemic for enhance just kind of don’t work.

If they aren’t planning changes then they just threw hero talents together without considering the current trees. And if they are planning changes why introduce the hero talents before the trees.

None of it makes sense.

Literally every spec tree change came after the hero talents were introduced. Don’t get it twisted, I don’t like the way things look right now either, but this isn’t a good reason to say nothing is coming.

The better reason is the radio silence after very visible feedback on totemic. You would think they would have seen the Wowhead article at the very least and addressed the concerns raised there.

I said I would give them three weeks after Totemic dropped, I gave them three weeks, I am starting to get a little concerned.

the changes came along side the hero talents or very very close to and at the very least they had communication on what to expect. We’ve had farseer for a long time now and nothing. Stormbringer for 3-4? weeks and nothing. Totemic partially for 2 weeks and even now that they are fully implementing it they didn’t do anything with the overwhelmingly negative feedback on it. Totemic is nonsensical on paper so to implement it as is makes no sense if things aren’t being changed and it makes no sense to implement it without the required big spec changes if they are revamping since the testing done will be useless.

Unless shamans get real loud and squeaky we aren’t going to get anything besides a 1 year hiatus.
