Tol Barad Guard Nerf for both Alliance and Horde

The guards need to be fixed so that if the opposite faction begins combat that does not trigger the guards to kill you. A good example is a Horde dk who grips people into the guards as Alliance cross the bridge. Even tho the Alliance do not fight back the guards still kill you. This is garbage game design and was changed from how it was originally.

Devs, we get that you hate anyone who loves wpvp but give it a freaking rest already in trying to destroy fun.

Imagine having two factions on a server.

Its balanced for the real servers where there is only one faction that matters.

Well guards attack when you get to close to them.

But Tol’barad is a garbage heap of design. The battleground primarily. There is a reason they had to increase the honor you got from attacking in OG cata. I think it was 1500 for a time if you were an attacker and won.

Yes it’s almost like you’re not supposed to be there

was it changed considering the shorter lifespan of classic cata? because it feels slow as glacial drift

No, its the same design as it was.

Pulling into guards is valid gameplay. Its kind of like an environmental kill. Since you use your environment.

I’ll take it over sucker punchers who jump you when the daily sites get hyper spawn happy.

Dude at least let me kill the npc’s then we dance. Nope, they see you hyper’d into 4+ mobs. For the NPC assisted kill.

See you can see that DK in the draw distance. at least it has that. When is a dk in the distance not planning on a grip lol. I run dk too, no judging. They move slow as hell.

What’s the counter play? Just never cross the TB bridge?

Way, way back in the long ago times when Classic first launched, these forums were filled with all kinds of PvP chest puffery. Players who rolled on PvE servers were called carebears and other snotty things. We were told we were missing out on half the game! We wouldn’t know the excitement and thrill of not knowing what was around the corner or spontaneous PvP.

And shortly thereafter, the crying ensued . . . world buffs dispelled, took over an hour to get to a raid, safe spotting, cities held hostage, MC’d off boats, endless ganking in low level areas, blah blah. People transferred and single faction (aka pretend PvP servers) arose.

My suggestion is just enjoy that other “half of the game” y’all wanted instead of endlessly complaining about it.

The DK wouldn’t have been able to death grip you if you weren’t flagged for pvp.

Yep, and pvp servers have it as “pvp happened”. Not all pvp is “fair” lol.

Even on 99.5% whitemane my horde meets the .5% alliance who are quite happy to make pvp happened…happen. Sometimes “fair”, sometimes not “fair”.

TBH it makes its interesting. Stealing fish is not the most intriguing content weeks in.

Turning off guard aggro would just have it so we walk through the place. the game can’t go just these say 4 guards go “blind” as it were.

Do you? Are you sure?
Why wouldn’t you just vanish out of that situation?

As you clearly have NEVER entered Tol Barad, in order for Alliance to get to the second island, they like the Horde, have to cross a bridge. The Horde have a camp right next to the bridge. All a Horde player needs to do is cast a spell/ability on you and the guards immediately aggro you.

I get that WoW is a difficult game for you and being a sarcastic jerk is a way to overcome that. I hope this note helps educate you a little on how absolutely terrible the change to guard interactions are based on players engaging other players.

I had a mage doing this to me on my warrior the other day. It was annoying and amusing at the same time. It doesn’t seem like standing near the guards and casting onto a target outside of their aggro range should cause them to react, but it definitely does.
