Since there is no way to ever re set the economy. And lots of people have 40k+ going in to TBC, I would like to see a monthly sub option added for gold, plus 30 days time.
Buy 30 days sub $15.00
Sub bonus token $10.00 1000g
I wish there was a way to fix the market, but there isnt.
They have to keep the price point under what gold sellers sell for, and fix the dungeon terrain so you cant pull 300 mobs…but they already said they won…so I support this.
Well majority of gold farms are like 60-100g per hour. Mage boosts and gdkps numbers will vary quite a bit. But I can’t imagine someone trading potentialy 5-10 hours of their time for 15 days played.
Certain little birdies on the internet value things around 1000g = $50
Yup, j got 5 tailoring alts and 2 alchemy alts ready to go for launch. GPH farms will certainly change in tbc. But there will also be alot of initial gold sink in phase 1 with epic flying
That’s one of the advantages of the token though. It would dramatically deflate the $ = gold ratio. Right now, there’s hundreds of thousands of classic gold that people just sit on, and thousands of people who WOULD pay for it, but don’t want to get banned. You’re left with an illicit market where the sellers can charge high prices, because it’s illicit.
Edit: Which I might add, contributes substantially to botting. Right now, on retail, the average ‘bottable’ farm is maybe 1/20th of a token per hour. At the high end. That’s the equivalent of 1 dollar an hour, and you’re quickly approaching the point where it might not even be worth the equipment/electricity. Contrast that with classic gold, where a bot that can farm 50 gold an hour, is actually making something like 6 dollars an hour at low points, and saw points as high as 15+ an hour in earlier phases (and will probably spike again with TBC phases).
The second bots are making more than minimum wage, is when you see literal floods of them. Because 3rd worlders are going to chase that money hard.
Yes and you think those people are going to just give away all there gold. This is the whole problem with the token in itself. All those people with insane amounts of gold will sell off all that gold for a lot of tokens. Now all that gold will be getting flushed into the economy. Instantly millions upon millions of gold that’s been sitting on handfuls of accounts will get released.
The wow token is worth what someone pays basically right? So all those people with insane gold aren’t just going to pay 5k gold for a wow token. I’m gonna for laughing when the wow token drops and a large swath of people go buy a mass lid of tokens and go look at the market and realize they handful of tokens they won’t sell because price will be lower than they think. The people with all the gold aren’t just gonna throw until it’s in there favor.
Edit- yes I understand botting is done but I don’t want to combat them selling gold by someone else selling gold. Selling gold is the problem and the botting is what is being used to do that. I don’t want to replace 1 evil by replacing it with another evil.
I think you’d be surprised how many people would happily sell off some of their treasure trove to play for free, or to buy something else on the blizz store.
You don’t get to set the price in any meaningful sense. It’s an automated process, where someone buys a wow token with real money, and places it on the AH. If it doesn’t sell, the regional price of wow tokens increases by a little bit over and over, until someone buys it. So sure, if EVERYONE refuses to buy, it will continue to rise in price, but realistically, you’ll always have someone who needs gametime, and only has gold.
Yes but those whales ain’t wasting 5k—-10k—— or time be obscene, they ain’t paying 20k gold for a wow token in tbc. They didn’t get that gold throwing it around stupidly or black lotus would have been 1k gold cause the rich people just can… (yes I’m being over the top)
Yes those gold rich people will buy tokens to avoid paying sub fee BUT they won’t just waste gold doing it.
Edit-there will be way more tokens for sale than gold being given up I believe look at these at the amount of people wanting to buy tokens for gold. Whose giving this amount of gold up?
