This mission is bugged when it comes to picking up the shiny object in the robot’s hand, nothing simply happens. NOTE: I’ve already done this quest on other characters and I still can’t skip Bargus’ quest on Sirens Island.

I’m having this same issue. Dropping the quest and picking it back up don’t help. Logging doesn’t help. Reloading UI doesn’t help.

It sounds like your character might still be in storm mode, which can prevent interaction with certain objects or NPCs like the Earthen Prototype. The best way to fix this is to have a quick word with Suzie Boltwrench in the area. She should offer you the option to return to a normal phase where the interaction becomes available again.!!

It’s clear how important this item is for your character, and I understand how discouraging it can be to get blocked at such a key step, especially when it’s tied to a Best-in-Slot reward.
We’ve received several reports about players being unable to interact with the Earthen Prototype when attempting to scan a crystal. This appears to be part of a larger issue currently under investigation by the development team. At this time, Customer Support doesn’t have a workaround or any resolution we can offer directly.
Since this is the type of issue that needs to be addressed at the game level, the best way to get it escalated to the right team is by submitting a bug report. These go straight to our QA and development teams for review.

Also currently bugged.
If it helps, this is an alt character that I’m blocked on - I’ve been/done this quest many times since 11.0.7.
I even did this quest on another character after 11.1.5 came out earlier this week, so the block is weird.
My Temporary Solve: Go to Warmode fixed this immediately. Not sure why - maybe tied to the server/shard change?

Just came back to the game - Can’t click on anything for this quest. Haven’t done it on any other character (as I stopped playing at the start of the expansion!
A fix must’ve just went through because folks in general are talking about it.
Abandon quest, and relog and retry. Just worked for me on my bugged alt.

Still not working. I tried warmode on too.
Still bugged, how can they take so long to make 1 simple object clickable, jesus christ the incompetence.
I had this issue yesterday as a new 80 (main), i completed the quest line in dornogal to get world quests/events last night and now i can complete this quest line, not sure if there is any connection there or if this was just fixed overnight.
Still bugged. Tried hearthing out, relogging, dropping quest/etc, and the Earthen Prototype is still completely impossible to interact with.
after trying most things i read through here and wow head turning on war mode fixed for me.
