From what i have seen, you will already have access to the waterwalking accessory because you already have the anglers rep.

Plus, you’ll get a free accessory immediately because you owned a 'strider.

Your ability to waterwalk on your 'strider (or any other mount now) will not be affected in the least.

Calm down, people. It will be okay.

*And yes I own one, and I am certain I will survive the Strider-clysm just fine.

EDIT: HEY BLUES: Can you clarify the possible issue for Crimson strider owners mentioned here?

I am glad they clarified it. I just wish they made the striders just like the robo-herb mount. It keeps its effect, but will not get any benefit from mount equipment.

As in the other threads:

It is the daze AND water walking issue.

Now you have to choose between one, or the other.

It doesn’t affect me, since I never used any anti-daze thing. This is why people are upset, though.They could use the “no daze” thing, with their water strider.

The comments I read only said “if you own a strider”. It was not specified which color.

…I’m not sure if that will be an issue or not.

…And IMO that’s not a game-breaking choice.

Seems like an issue, considering we do not have the rep, so we won’t have the required rep to purchase the item or get the discount. AKA Crimson strider owners are getting shafted.

Well if it requires rep to purchase the item, or get a discount, its pretty clear we won’t be getting it.

So so much for your everything will be fine post. Poor change on Blizzards part.

I have the strider and plenty of alts and I’m fine. People just like to see the sky falling on every issue big or small. It wouldn’t be GD without it.

where are people getting this info?

…because this is what i’m seeing:

if you head to the vendor where you bought a Water Strider, you’ll be able to buy more of this item for a greatly reduced price as an advantage for those who already have the Water Strider.

and:

If your goal is to have waterwalking while leveling, you can just enable the waterwalking Mount Equipment (there will be one available via Anglers reputation that will be bind-on-account)

While there will be one via the Anglers, it doesn’t say they won’t be able to be obtained in any other way, and seems to say that you should be able to buy it from either Nat Pagle in Pandaria, or in your garrison.

I’m concerned that they’ll change the way bardings and gliders work. Right now I have water walking with my strider, can’t be dazed using barding, and have safe fall using goblin gliders. Will I still have all 3 abilities like I do now, or will I have to choose?

That’s a valid concern too; see we’re actually having a productive discussion! Maybe this can be clarified as well…

Yeah, I was thinking about Gliders as well. I make hundreds in my Garrison for all my Alts. I wonder if they’ll be going away with this change?

Is this the default defense now? “oh you will get something for free so you can’t criticize or complain about it.”

The glider is a completely separate item that is not currently connected to mounts; so I would hope it stays as is.

Geez, calm down. The “free” item directly replaces the removed ability, allowing you to continue using it. It is A specific defense in this particular instance.

yeah lets be lazy and have all our mounts walk on water because we are too lazy to click on it to mount to go over water.

No offense, but this “oh but you can get this for free so stop complaining” defense been used so many times to justify shady and predatory practices in the video game industry… looks at Overwatch and back here… that specific defense alone has lost all credibility to me.

I’l give you this though, for this “specific” instance, it’s neither shady or predatory, it’s just’s silly cause the mount had waterwalking from the get-go when we get it and attitude’s like “oh it’s the same thing pre 8.2, your not losing anything, it’s not a nerf, it’s Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…” is just being disingenuous with me. Also that defense doesn’t work anyways as many people point out that you only get one freebie, then after that the normal price (well normal minus exalted discount percent).

And here’s the thing, i like this idea on paper, i really do, i want the execution of it to not be great, but excellent as hell. i just think it sucks the water strider lost it’s default effect. That would’ve been fine if people haven’t come up with ridiculous defenses as that defense above and ignoring or blatantly leaving out parts out and pretend nothing has changed.

As much i like to see amazing things happen in this game and only amazing things, that’s not the reality.
