I got that once, too. Infuriating, because it was in LFR and it was a tank who kept purposely pulling to kill people and reset.
Edit: and I don’t know why it was removed. Maybe they figured it wasn’t necessary. Maybe it was bugging out. Unsure.

Do we have confirmation that it was?
People used to complain about that too… “What do you mean I can’t kick someone, just because I kicked the last 1,000 people…” (Yes, I’m being facetious, but you know GD it sometimes can seem that bad)…
A couple of people on the forums said they spent a couple of weeks testing it out and never saw a cooldown. Best I can tell ya.
I think someone said there wasn’t an official patch saying so, but I know the kick immune thing I haven’t ran into for a long long time.
Lol you’re good I understand.
But yeah sometimes though out of chance it can happen, like dcs constantly happening between instances. Some folks just have really bad internet and by chance… it can happen. I would have to say out of all the times I’ve ever VTK it’s been due to a disconnection.
If it’s kicking a DCed player and the player is actually offline it shouldn’t count if they bring anything like that back (if it is removed that is).
That is the other question: was that actually removed, or do people just not kick frequently enough to trigger it?
I wonder if they should try to implement that as part of this:
Hotfix (2016-12-06): Players in a dungeon during a server shutdown should no longer receive the Deserter debuff.
Best we’ve got is this:
Oh i didn’t know that was a thing with deserter and being dced like that. Interesting.
That’s a pretty easy edge case to solve, but it also doesn’t come up that often.
That’s fair.
I do kinda agree though (it was brought up in here somewhere i think) if a person is kicked like maybe 1 or 2 times they don’t get deserter. Past that… deserter or a different version that maybe has a racking timer.
I also think that if someone finds themselves to be getting kicked often, they’re probably doing something to deserve it.
Whether or not the realize or will admit that is a different question.
And / or someone just unlucky with groups.
Getting unlucky with groups stops being plausible if it’s more than a few times.
Being generous, if you hit double digit kicks in less than 2 years, being unlucky with groups stops being plausible.
Unless you have my level of luck. My first day of a new job was monday and we had a massive blizzard Sunday. XD No work Monday due to a closed mall.
Just to put my bad luck into perspective lol im sure theres others with worse luck.
Brings up the thing of potentially rating other players too like ffxiv does. If they brought that in, how would that tie into a kick system?
I could see something like the League honor system working, where you can (optionally) honor teammates at the end of a run (reduced effect if pre-made).
Everyone starts at level 3 (effectively neutral), which has access to chat, kick, and pings. Receiving honor from players makes your score go up, getting social penalties makes your score go down. Players at honor level 2 can’t use chat (only restricts /i, /p, /raid, /yell, and /say inside of LFD/LFR groups) or VTK, honor 1 can’t even use pings. 4 and 5 get cosmetic rewards, and I’d be in favor of Augment runes for Honor 5.
Issue there is m+ and pvp potentially since you can’t que for that.
Don’t think the system should interact with non-matchmade content at all.
To be clear, I’m not advocating the removal of kicking players from the group. Sometimes its necessary.
I’m not claiming the debuff should be completely removed but it should function more diplomatically, similar to the res timer at your body but designed specifically for random dungeon queues. (ex. First offense is free, second 5 minutes, then increases.) Detection of repetitive behavior and reports can implement further restrictions.
Despite what people on the other side of the fence say, unjust kicks do happen.
Nothing sucks more than waiting 15 minutes for a queue, getting kicked 5 minutes into a dungeon for leveling gear in a timewalking speedrun group, then getting a 30 minute penalty before getting in queue for another 15 minutes. That’s over an hour for a first time offense of wearing greens. The current system is absurdly broken.
you mean like when you all kick them for NOT breaking any rules and NOT doing anything wrong worthy of being kicked?
