You forgot the other downside. It costs gold to retransmog your gear… plus the extra mouse click to save an armor set… darn it holy is colored red again… must click save to make it green.
It destroys any concept of a max power level of gear putting the end carrot miles away in the distance.
It contributes to increasing players ilvl beyond the content their prepared for, hence people trying to join +8 keys, despite never completing a +4. Thus helping destroy any semblance of natural power progression through content.
It partially removes the ability to create dedicated gear paths and incentivizes content that players should naturally move out of.
It’s completely RNG with no player input… thus not actually adding anything to gameplay.
Pro:
It’s a dopamine hit to keep people pulling the gear slot machine lever.
Either way. It isn’t going anywhere. Adapt or vote with your wallet.
Come on guys, I’m not a fan of forging and all that but don’t false flag the guy.
Forging can be a nightmare for both a casual and a hardcore.
Casual - gets to raid one night a week…stuck with basic ilvl raid gear because they can’t catch an RNG break.
Hardcore - raids every week on multiple characters and can’t catch a break even through hundreds of rolls while the guy who barely shows up out ilvls you because of luck.
It can also be a damn gift
Casual - only gets to raid one night a week…but low and behold! Your best in slot max forged! You get to feel so accomplished and your scarce amount of raiding feels worth it.
Hardcore - you’re the first person in your guild that gets their BiS and it helps pump your numbers past the middle of the pack and it can only go up from there!
Who cares? If the required ilvl to complete content is lower than the max “power” ilvl, then anything above the “required” is just a bonus and makes current content even easier.
ilvl means nothing - nor should it. That’s why we have raider io to provide additional, more relevant, information.
Not really. You can still target items with best secondary stats.
You conveniently took one sentence. Of course the casual raider who gets a titanforge will feel accomplished. I know my shoes and I don’t like totanforging. But you bet your balls that casual who gets that 395 loves it. And then one who doesn’t hates it. It’s just a double edge sword.
They’d love it sure, but the problem is that they DO NOT deserve it. And I don’t care about their time or if they can’t raid. Titanforging is not a good mechanic, as said above it skyrockets your ilvl to places where it shouldn’t be. A new player should not be getting high end gear because he is gonna end up messing that content for the rest
Yeah it does, why should the game give gear that would allow non-experienced players to enter higher difficulty content by seemingly being ‘‘geared up’’ for it.
Subjective
Well it doesn’t take anything away but it messes up the game, RNG is ok but to a certain extent, you can’t be having someone that lacks experience getting 390 gear that was titanforged.
You can’t give more ilvls to someone than what they deserve.
Ex. you just did a WF weekly quest (don’t even get me started into how bad this is) and the 385 you got titanforges. Why in the world would you get such high gear for no effort at all?
I understand you have your opinions on the game but you can’t deny that Titanforging is a bad idea overall
Say, some raiding team cleared Mythic Taloc, after many kills one raider finally got the weapon a sweet 385.
Then we have someone who did Normal Taloc, first try, Titanforged, similar to what the other got if not the same.
Isn’t that unfair? The Mythic raider put a lot of effort, resources or gold in pots and flasks. Maybe even took the time to farm the gear to be able to enter Mythic but some dude casually gets what it took him a long time to get.
I personally think that impacts the other player. I have felt this way, I know people who felt this way.
It’s UNFAIR for those who actually put GOOD TIME and EFFORT in gearing up.
