I get that its a bit unavoidable, but the same names keep coming up in my epic randoms. Why is there no option to vote-kick afks and bots yet? I understand this “could” be abused but i’d rather people be on good behavior than seemingly 1/4 of every bg be filled with people afk or botting.
Something I did not know, is that you can’t be kicked if you sit in a turret? My last Wintersgrasp had 5 or 6 afk that we couldn’t kick out of the battleground. Those players did 0 dmg, 0 kills… etc…
I don’t know about the rest of the community but this seems to be getting worse and I feel as though we should be able to remove these types of players from the battleground and if it keeps happening they should face something like a 24 hour ban. I get life happens but… Do you agree or disagree?
I guess it’s hard for Blizzard to balance between allowing free-riders to hurt everyone on their team against malicious reporters. Alternatively, Blizzard might think bots are so evenly distributed between the factions they just call it a wash.
I’d love to know how effective Blizzard thinks banning players has worked over the years. I wonder if they’ve ever toyed with account restrictions instead, such as changing a character’s title (“Ephie, the AFK”) or removing their ability to transmog for a month.
The weird thing is, aside from the 400 honor level crab, I can’t think of anything worth botting for.
Hey, I haven’t done the Comp Stomp lately–have there been bots in there as well?
I am cynical enough to say it would be abused. There are already people saying if enough people report you afk no matter what you are doing you are gone with deserter buff.
It is not fun when you are active in the bg suddenly finding yourself out of the bg with deserter. In my case I have been booted multiple times while actively healing. Some I was commenting about all the complaining. Some I was quiet. One AV a group of us were trying to keep the horde away from Vann with multiple people complaining about us all being afk in the base. Then throw in the bg where people were busy too complaining about those that want to try winning.
@ Ephie I really like your ideas for account restrictions. There has to be a better way of doing this. My first 4 epic bgs today had the same 5-6 afkers in them. In the last one, Ashran, I decided to call them out by name. I was called a rat of course and couldn’t care less… these folks are ruining the game by doing this. Interestingly, they were at the computer to PM me awful things. but couldn’t be bothered to play and help the team. Why pay for a team game to afk it? I guess its their 15 bucks. I still think blizzard needs to take action. Heres their names, maybe i’ll get a running list of these people going.
Nyiana-Auchindoun Afk every ashran ive been in the last few days… called me a rat when called out finally and removed from the BG. Enjoy your measly 15 min break from not even playing.
Nahlia-Drakkari Same as the previous. msged me after being called out in the same Ashran. called me a “worthless rat person”. Again, and the same, enjoy your break from not even playing or helping.
Oh and we won, well… after you got kicked… haha
There were a few more… I dont have their realms tho as I was trying to play… Sthis was one of them. Anyways…
@ Sondala I can see your point with this. Like I mentioned if someone wasn’t performing well enough or [insert just about anything] and there was even a small group of friends it could be abused. I don’t heal often but I wasnt sure if that counted as activity the same way and hitting something is in that it would clear the afk debuff. And i’m sorry to hear about you getting kicked while trying to win! It seems like even the slightest loss in ground in there warrants the worst behaviors from players. My focus is the Afks and Bots though. Temper tantrums is a whole other story!
Oh hey there, it just so happens I was in that Ashran
Yes, I noticed you calling out the AFKers, good work! Doing god’s work
Since we’re on this topic of AFKers, keep an eye out for a certain high honor level guy from the “Sentinels” server. This prolific AFKer has like 9-10 different alts from the same server, and he’s always complaining about “mercs” in the chat… so he’s quite easy to spot and he’s present in a lot of epics (unfortunately). He seems to play later at night, or at least that’s when I usually see him.
Another one is a (female) Human Paladin from Frostmourne server whose name is a slight spin-off of the “Turalyon” character from WoW (most of his alt names are similar). Similar deal: he spends most of his time complaining in the chat about how much Alliance sucks/being toxic… and of course he usually has 0 “Damage Done” on the meters or parks himself in a turret the whole game.
There’s another frequent AFKer from the “Silvermoon” server, with a similar number of alts as the Sentinels dude, but I haven’t seen him in a while (good riddance).
It’s unfortunate, but epic bgs do attract a lot of these do-nothing AFKers that can really drag down a team. It’s harder to “get away” with such AFKing in the little bgs, since 1 player standing still the entire game/doing nothing in a 10-man bg is pretty suspicious/pretty obvious and difficult to hide… it’s easier to “hide” or “blend in” as an AFKer when you’re 1 person out of 40.
I guess it’s on us to root out these shameless leeches, and report them when we see them.
