Tired of Lack of Tanks? Here's a Fix!

If you don’t care then that’s fine, but most of us don’t care that you don’t care, it’s not a license of superiority.

It is a license to superior queue times. If you don’t like that, roll a tank.

The OP isn’t stating tanks have shorter queue times. That is not a controversial point, just a fact. The OP does say we should be nicer to them, which is controversial because it’s subjective opinion. The reality is that my time is better spent picking anchor weed or fishing than it is with a tank who sucks.

I agree 100%! But here’s something I can’t stand: When a tank is moving at a speed that’s too fast for the rest of the group. It’s a team effort. You move at whatever you’re comfortable with, but make sure your damage and healers are comfortable too!

Which is why new players almost never roll tanks or stick with the role.

There is a large chunk of the player base that relies on pug tanks, so while picking anchor weed works great for you, it doesn’t do much to solve the supply problem.

Lovely post, treat tanks right! My pet can’t tank anymore (which is so rude), so we need someone who can do it.

If there’s any issue at the social level with tanking, fix the one where the tank is the expected group leader. In reality, anyone can lead. BM Hunters are especially suited to leadership, they can pay attention to the mechanics for every role while following Hekili to deal respectable damage, but the public perception is that the tank must ALWAYS lead every PUG they’re placed in, and not everyone wants to be leader.

That could help a lot - this sort of exists in LFD but no one pays any attention to it and there isn’t any reward (or expectation) for the role.

Give them onscreen buttons for ground raid markers or something, maybe.

tanks are literally gods right now. people are doing all tank heroic runs.

sorry not sorry tanks need nerfs. this is honestly for the health of the game. Tanks should have cds to counter abilities, they shouldn’t be stand alone specs. Not need heals and doing as much damage as dps isn’t good for group building.

the feeling is often mutual. stop taking so much offense when someone asks you to pull more so they can reset their cds quicker or so they can use their cds more efficiently. I hate being in a group with a bad or new tank that is unwilling to take some friendly advice. If you want to play a key role in the group, you need to be prepared to accept the responsibilities that come with it.

eh, that’s a two way street. I have so many tanks just afk because they KNOW they get in instant cue… I have had way more tank ruin runs then any dps.

At the end of the day, we all want to get the dungeon done. Just because you’re a tank doesn’t mean you’re exempt from criticism. I hate feeling captive to a player who is unwilling to discuss something. I had a tank troll my group awhile back by canceling his cast on the pylons. Then a dps or two would enter and he’d ask them why they went in before he did. Then he left the group before finishing the key because the ‘dps were bad.’

smh.

Okay, you’ve nerfed us. We no longer play tanks. You have no dungeons. Good game.

Okay, when we wipe, it’s my fault because I pulled too much, but you wanted it your way and are complaining your way got us killed and I’m just not a good tank because, obviously, you know better.

If a tank AFKs on you, you’re probably ticking them off. They do it to get kicked so they have no penalty.

Also, it sounds like the DPS were doing things that made him WANT to do that to him. Notice how you’re only describing it from your perspective. I imagine if we ask the tanks of your stories, we’re going to hear some very different points of view.

Your story sounds suspiciously like: “I was doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG, and this big, mean tank came out of nowhere and FOR NO REASON, did bad things to me.”

actually your pet can tank
and when the tank leaves because he gets his short que times
you just turn on growl and look at that you can finish the dungeon without even needing a tank

Same with healers. When we can’t heal 600k in 4 seconds and you, dps, pulled a full entire room it isn’t my fault we wiped. I had a incident when I was new to healing in waycrest Manor where the tank pulled 3 rooms and blew up. They can’t heal any better and act like they have the power to heal a full team their full health combined 4 times because the dps don’t won’t to wait 4 seconds For the tank to be ready, me to have full mana, etc

That is why tanks who post in these forums should immediately dismiss all snarky posts from people posting on their dps characters. Big odds are they are too afraid to tank but love to talk smack.

And without fail, as soon as I call out these dps who are too afraid to tank yet feel entitled to say how easy tanking is, the character they are posting on all of a sudden becomes an alt and they all suddenly have a main ‘tank’ in Method or whatever…riiiight.

I have vast experience as both, it’s not. Inherently the playstyle is much easier, some tanks are basically a dps spec.
However, tanking demands far more awareness than healing because people make mistakes and the tank is not only the first one that needs to respond but also the tank’s mistakes are immediatley noticeable by the whole group. Not to mention this particular season the devs decided to put a whole other layer of responsibility entirely on the tank: M+ paths.

even if you deleted a character you would still have achievements, which you don’t have a lot of. no one said anything about what servers you’ve played on or characters you’ve deleted. i just pointed out you have no recorded experience tanking mythics like you claimed
mythic dungeons are still viable? 15s drop 465 gear which would be an upgrade for all your gear slots
if you weren’t so flustered about being called out for having no idea what you’re talking about you would have looked at raid feats of strengths instead of just scrolling down my alts armory. im not going to argue with someone about aotc since there are multiples groups that give the achievement away for free because of how easy it is, but you got ghuun aotc on the last few days of the tier. why do you think that makes you knowledgeable on how to make tanking better?

I’m assuming you mean this because they’re simple, which they’re meant to be since they need room to multi task.

You just described every mdps in the game.

A) Ironic coming from a DH.
B) Why don’t you do it then?

Talk about a crybaby prima donna tank.

Shut your mouth and press your buttons like everyone else. Tanking is super easy no matter what content it is. Healing and DPS both have to work way harder to perform and dont even have the luxury of having their naturally high HP and passive defense to bail them out on mistakes.

I barely ever tank anymore…but yeah…every bit of that.
Even when the run is moving at light speed and like clockwork some dill rod DPS WILL pull a bunch of side trash that we dont need to clear, run off and solo, die and cry at the healer, or pull for the tank and drag 4 or 5 fearing mobs in causing a circus show of chain fearing until the wipe comes and he gets vote kicked. And of course his nasty but entertaining whispers after he’s gone, lol.

I dont tank much at all anymore, and heal very little now, because I hate DPS players.

case in point…

Obvious not-tank.
