Tips On How To Win More Random BGs'?

What are some tips you all have for having more success in getting wins’ in random bfs’? How do you get other players on your team to work together instead of just fighting on roads the whole match? Whenever i try to get Horde players to work together i usually get told “shut up” or “chill out” or they end up trolling me.

So. I know it sound weird, but it’s all about when you play. Best to play during the school/work day and usually around 1:30- 2 pm eastern is when it will start to go down hill.

What i do is play MM hunter or sub rogue. As MM i just carry by killing everything in sight, don’t forget saltwaters and other buffs since its bgs you can cheez alot.
As rogue I just go sub and either ninja cap bases or choose a healer and not let him do anything by spam sapping blind gouge kidney kicking vanish and repeat.
Just my 2c.
EDIT: you don’t need to have your team do good if you can make their team do worse lel

Tips On How To Win More Random BGs’?

Besides playing a stealth-capable class for ninja-caps and ninja-backcaps, I think simply being where you’re “supposed” to be is VERY underrated in the typical pugs vs pugs matchup

So many random pug players just mindlessly wander around the map in BGs, so much so that the handful of aware/awake non-AFK players that are actually where they’re “supposed” to be can easily swing a match one way or another

Being “in the right place, at the right time” when a flag needs to be spun/defended or when a boss fight is about to start (such as in AV) can be huge… I’ve literally seen losses happen in AV because the tank(s) were out in mid/somewhere else when “all in” got called in chat

Oh, we all feel your pain there. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do to stop the meter maids.

Yes, I typically face the same thing. Trying to get people to work as a team (not even close to trolling or bossing around) seems to be impossible.

I’ll usually be the only one calling incoming at a base with a number of enemies. Have given up on random bg’s on horde being anything but a place to test spells and macros.

Anyone who says “don’t talk” is plain dumb. You don’t want to play with those kinds of people unless you’re an equal narcissist troll.

Anyway, unfortunately the answer is probably to premade. Otherwise you’re just hoping you get lucky with good teammates.

Eh, bad advice for a pugs vs pugs… in a premade it’s fine though since there’s no need to chat - either everyone already knows what to do or everyone’s already on voice comms

Calling incs, saying how many enemies are coming (“looks like only 2-3 dont send any more”), calling where to go next (“go lava quick”), announcing changing battlefield conditions (“BACKDOOR every1 back to base quick”), etc… all that stuff is essential for the best results with randoms/uncoordinated pugs

An active chatbox absolutely helps as far as increasing your win-rates in BGs

If you are a dps, stay with one friendly healer, kill enemies and protect the healer as you move to objectives WITH the healer.

Unless you are ninja caping as a stealthed character or feel durable enough to do your own thing solo always stay with other players on your team, preferably a healer.

Objectives are more important than kills, but kills aid you in having more teammates alive compared to the enemy team, making objectives and killing enemies at objectives easier.

Cc is king. If you use good positioning and are with your healer your in a good spot to: target call/kill enemies/control objectives, ect, use cc as efficiently and often as possible.

Winning a battleground takes a lot more than having the best in slot gear, enchants, and embelishments etc. You need to work as a team to.make your damage matter. Having a teammate with mortal strike nearby is very useful. Preferably attack who he is attacking

You can’t control other people and your ability to influence them is really minor. You mostly need to play around them. Ping and pray as you can, but mostly just make sure you’re at the right objectives and punching above your weight.

Make sure you’re playing a class you can carry on if you’re playing solo. That means self-reliant specs good at taking side objectives (like Rogues) or good team fight classes like MM, Boomie, and Devastation.

Make sure you are juiced up with consumables (runes, phials, food, etc.)

Try to break the enemy’s greatest strength. Like if there’s 1 healer, maybe you just spend all game ganking the healer. Or if your team is losing all the team fights w/o you, make sure you’re showing up to counter the enemy Zerg.

But mostly just show up at the priority objective or try to give your team a numbers advantage by being able to 1v2+.

I’ll let you all in on a little secret to beating bri’s premade. It’s not skill, it’s not cc, it’s not damage and it’s not superior strategy

Just drop a recall in front of her. BOOM we’re down a healer

When I join PUGs, I follow a few steps to maximize our chances:

  1. Check the roster as it fills to see who’s joining.
  2. Identify the top 3 players with the highest Honor level. Experience counts in BGs, and these players usually have it.
  3. Determine which of these experienced players is doing the best, considering some might be on alts and gear might vary. Opt for the top performer.
  4. If you’re DPS, support the top performer. Healers should consider pocket-healing them.
  5. Don’t tell people how to play.
  6. Keep an eye on your healer and peel for them.

^ This is so spot on.

Doing the things nobody else likes to do but are important.

Like in ashran i always go cap the ss to give the team a better chance at roc and then teleport back go kill Narduke and then go for their mage after.

In av trying to sneak cap a bunker once most horde have left it

In ioc using dragonfruit to get to hangar faster and slow the enemy team down.

And in the normal 10 mans just basically do the objectives and you are already probably contributing more to win than 90% of the players in there sometimes there are games where you just cant carry hard enough but those are bound to happen.

Hello, OP. It’s pretty much impossible to write a guide on how to win BGs because there are so many variables and so many ways to win (brute force, outsmarting, taking deaths to stall, etc). What you can do is also very spec and map specific.

I have quite a few full BG commentary videos where the focus of the commentary is on playing to win. There are quite a few tips in these movies, but it is more catered to solo/duo queue players and some of it is specific to Blitz.

The videos span across quite a few of the specs. This is a link to the playlist.
