So I am the most geared hunter in my guild (Full Beast Lord Set + Sunfury + sonic spear/bis dual wields) with everything enchanted and mid tier gems. Yet I am still getting grey parses for my ilvl (115) and I have no idea why I can’t improve.
For consumables I am using:
Major Agility Elixir
Agi food
Agi scrolls
Weights tones when dual wielding
I have a swing timer and attack speed marker to help make sure I’m not clipping autos and getting my rotations right. My rotations are generally
5:5:1:1 for 1.7-2.1
1:1 for 1.4-1.7
2:1 for <1.4
Is there something I’m doing wrong because I can’t seem to figure out what it is that I am missing as my pet seems to be doing more total damage than my autos or my steady shots.
1.Parse’s are reliant on your raid group. Good group? good parses.
2. Are you maximising your cd’s properly?
3. Are you getting lust/chain lusts?
4. Is your party optimised? IE hance shaman, feral druid in it.
2 things that stood out, Mid tier gems=why bother especially in gear thats going to last and why not using a flask or elixir of demonslaying if you’re serious about parsing.
Mid tier gems mostly because I can’t really afford the bis gems after consumables. Didn’t know flask was better than elixir so I might go with those from now in. And yeah I definitely think the parties are not optimized. Last raid with gruul was me + feral off tank who I was likely not in range of leader of the pack due to just how the spread mechanics of gruul is. And all our shammys are resto/ele so they are in different groups or not putting out any totems that can boost my damage.
More or less using my multi/arcane off cd while trying to not clip autos during slow speeds.
The raid teams definitely favor casters over hunters.
Timing of your cool downs w/ on use trinkets will have a massive effect on how well you parse, taking advantage of guaranteed phases where you can pump damage or cases like curators evocation.
Are you ever out of mana? This can be a huge clue. Saying you are best geared in your guild tells me that your guild has terrible gear, fights should be very long, this makes your parses worse, if you have no mana problems at the same time your gear is not optimized for damage. The longer the fight goes the lower your damage will be ebcause either you run out of mana or your gear has mana regen on it (which is terrible for parses).
So only thing I can say, if you are still downing bosses and getting loot don’t worry about it.
Just took a look you can compare to my logs just search my name on warcraftlogs
I looked over King Maulgar fight for you.
Your gear seems fine but consider swapping out one piece of beastlord for something spicier. Your pet does less damage than mine, might just be that my pet is better suited for this fight. Your steady shot damage is low compared to your autoshot. This can mean you are too worried about clipping autoattacks and are missing/delaying some steadies in your rotation. Logs say you did not get lust or drums, this alone will dumpster you compared to every other hunter that logs. You didnt have blessing of kings, some special-snowflake actually put salvation on you. Unless you never trained feign death you should never need salvation. Also your expose weakness uptime is low, this means your crit must be low, and part of that is lack of kings and agi totem, or you are not using kill command as much as you should.
