Well, it’s clear you know nothing about game design, and have no ability to think outside the box on this, so your input is now irrelevant.
So then if summoning undead makes you a necromancer, then summoning a mech suit makes you an engineer. Glad that is settled.
Also, just to add to your post, each race should get unique appearances for the technology they use fit to their culture like totems for Shamans.

None of the classes in this game are Tinkers.
No class is, but a profession is. Tinkerers are Engineers.
Proffesions have nothing to do with class design though.
Shamans have had special weapon enhancements as far back as Vanilla and they still had Enchanters.
Death Knights got added with special enchants. we still have enchanters.
Rogues have a Potion that heals them, and cover their blades in poison. We still have Alchemy.
But you REALLY think that it’ll be different this time?
Each of these is one thing, but tinkerers would need to take everything engineering has.
I am curious too on how Blizzard would make the abilities work but I’m sure it is possible.

Let’s look at the things Engineering can currently do in BFA.
Mount Equipment.
Scopes.
making Guns.
making Wrenches.
Portable Transmog
Portable waterwalk
and some bombs to level the profession.
Which one of these would a Tinker class steal?
Because… I don’t see one that can’t remain part of the profession
Hell, If tinkers used guns. It would be another class to make scopes for.
So it would make engineering MORE useful.
More to the point, nothing in the game currently is anything like what Tinkers could have.
NOTHING.
A Mech Suit for tanking is NOT a mount.
Turrets DO NOT EXIST in this game. Shaman totems are NOT turrets.
Tech based abilities are NOT THE SAME as Engineering items.
And lastly Tinkers are NOT THE SAME as the Engineer Profession. Tinkers would take a few IDEAS from Engineering, but they would still be a separate ideas from what Engineers currently do.
On contrary it would limit engineering design in future expansions based on what tinkerers get. It would hinder the profession more then it has already had. Luckily in shadowlands they are doing some work on professions hopefully they don’t do a boneheaded thing like adding an entire class which would take away from a profession.
Perhaps instead of making bombs they can make enhancements for them that can provide different CC effects and such?
Shaman totems haven’t been stationary damage dealers for a long time. They’re all utility now except for Liquid magma totem.
Even that is obviously more like the Volcano ability from Warcraft 3.
Oh yeah because Engineers can make So much cool stuff right now.
Face it dude. Engineering is gutted and limited, and we don’t even have a tinker class yet.
That has nothing to do with the class. At all.
In Shadowlands. Engineering gets
a 5 minute cooldown stealth
a 5 minute cooldown Incapacitate
and a 5 minute cooldown teleport in a random direction.
None of these are Tinkers abilities and none of them would go anywhere.
Believe me, your crappy useless engineering profession will always be crappy and useless. A new Class wont affect it at all
Like all the professions haven’t been severally limited already.
You know, instead of shooting down the idea entirely, how about you start thinking about what it COULD be, because Tinkers would be WAY different from anything we have in the game now.
Search the forums, there are some GREAT ideas put forward.
Remember, Blizzard can always change the profession so that it can still be useful. It doesn’t HAVE to stay the same?
You fail the see the point I am saying. It harms design space for engineering. Anything you can make for a tinkerer you could easily instead give to a Engineering to make it cool again. I don’t know about the rest of you but I sure would like to see the return of stuff like the gnomish death ray to engineering. But if they add tinkerers that will never happen.

If you think Engineering needs these things to be cool again, wouldn’t Engineering then be better suited as its own class?
Don’t think of it as “Engineering being snuffed out”
Instead think of it as “Engineering can finally reach it’s full potential now that it isn’t limited to being a crappy profession”
Again. the reason those aren’t on engineering anymore is because professions had to be gutted, because you cant allow a profession to be too important.
These abilities would be better suited on a class. Not on a profession that would inevitably get them gutted out.

Deleting a profession isn’t the answer. That is the problem. Why would you want them to make professions worse then they already are? They need to fix them. Adding tinkerers is the complete opposite direction of that.
Why? Seriously like why? It’s that type of thinking thats been slowly eroding the game. The game was more fun when what profession you chose was just as important as what class you chose.
the only shaman totem that was a turret, Searing totem doesnt exist in the game.
