The game is ripe for the addition of the Tinker as we speak. Mail with Spanners/Maces. Bulwark (tank), Warfare (dps), and Medic (heal) talent trees.
Especially with Earthen being a thing.
Wardens need to be a thing - Mail with chakrum weapons. Security (tank), Infiltration (dps), and specialist (dps) trees.
Necromancers should have been BEEN added. Cloth with scythes/staffs, wands. Blood (healing), Decay (dps) and Death (summoning/raising dps) talent trees.
“BUT THAT WOULD OVERLAP—” no. Shut up. Who cares. Let them overlap. Feral druids and rogues have overlapped for …Ever. Priests and paladins have overlapped forever. DK and necro can overlap. Hunter and Warden can overlap. Big deal.
Warden never coming. Too niche in the lore and it made GREAT sense as a heroic talent line for Hunter/Rogue and it didn’t happen (while giving them some of the blandest, phoned in options ever made)
Necromancer is redundant with DK and Warlock.
Tinker has a tiny bit of hope as one of the first important Earthen has those tinker Doc Ock arms, but we also have to be realistic with consideration that if they put in the effort to create new back items that they’re prob just gunna roll it out as a cosmetic and let people RP as one.
Current devs, and for a while now, seem to revile classic Warcraft/WoW because it makes people realize how truly awful the writing, lore, etc. has gotten. IF we get a new class it will probably be some god awful “ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL” level trash like Evoker.
Tinker without gun/crossbow access would be a travesty. Wardens are too night elf specific (which is already bad enough with certain hero specs, making an entire class for only once race would be a huge mistake)
Necromancers… they’re just caster death knights, but we already have paladins/priests for holy and demon hunters/warlocks for fel so I say go for it.
Sidenote, we could also use a void/shadow-based melee class and at least one dps spec somewhere that uses Holy magic offensively (the closest we have is Disc, but that also uses shadow and is, y’know, a healer).
DKs summon and control the dead, blood, and plague.
I would also like a Diablo-style necromancer, but to be honest, that would be a waste, I think a technology class would be much more interesting.
tinker could be a tank using a mech. A ranged dps having more mobility and less range, like evokers. and a different healer, using inventions to heal.
RIght, but if a DK can do waht he does as a plate class, and we have Paladin and Priest doing what they do, then it’s fine for us to have a cloth death class.
Thematically they step on DKs.
Gameplay wise they step on Demo warlocks.
No to necromancers.
I don’t really know what a Warden class would look like tbh. Beyond the iconic armor set and weapon… do they do anything super special?
Tinkers would be cool though. The issue with tinkers is I think there’s too many interpretations.
Do we do the Machine Speaker Doc Oct type? The summon little robots and turrets type? The mech-pilot type? All above put into 1 class could get messy.
I think we should have new classes. I just think wasting all of that on a necromancer would be bad, since many of the things a necromancer would do, we already have available in other classes.
Also, both using the Light but in very different ways. What would a necromancer do again in relation to DKs or wizards?
No they don’t. In fact both DKs and Necros were supposed to be playable at the launch of the game, later to be cut off. So no, they don’t overlap. Just like they don’t overlap in generic lore or Warcraft lore.
You people have no idea what you are talking about.
I even literally said in my OP “B…B…B…BUT MUH OVERLAP” was a silly argument considering all the overlap we already have, but they sure did animalistically bleat that argument anyway, didn’t they.
I feel like Warden could have been a rogue hero spec. For outlaw and assassination (poison). Or sub and assa.
Necro is a bit harder, specially since we already have DKs so it’s hard to make a whole new class for them and not feel thematically repetitive. The could be a warlock spec that swaps all the demon stuff for undead stuff, similar to affliction, but more.
Tinker seems the most creative to make into a whole new class. Could make it so there’s magitech in it so draenei artificers feel right.
