Tinker Class: Something Only WoW can do?

Mechagon would have been a perfect time, especially after Dazar’alor raid with a tinker boss in Mekkatorque.

Ah, this idea makes my Heart flutter.

This class just has so much potential.
Maybe I could play as a Human in a Hard hat, and play guitar for my guild.

hey look buddy, I’m an engineer

There will never be another dungeon as good as the Mechagon.
I Despised BFA. But the Mechagon might be the best instanced content ever.

You’re not alone on that, I both love the idea of a Tinker, because i love mech stuff, and have loved engineering since like birth basically, and also i love game design so much its so fun to think of fun ideas! This thread has literally been making my day lol

That’s what I like to hear, You can’t go through any Questing zone post cata it seems without encountering goblins, gnomes, dwarves, or orcs building contraptions and killing machines.

It adds so much flavor to the universe.

Managing the mech, turrets, gadgets and gizmos would make for some fun and unique mechanics. Repairing, reloading and monitoring heat levels.

I love it!

If I actually had to repair the mech outside of combat every now and then, Or if it had some exterior customization options, that would be really nice.

Doesn’t need to be massive, just a few extra options and forms, like a Bear Druid has.

Yeah if the mech was disabled, the Tinker should have to hop out and repair it. Something similar to re-summoning a Lock pet or reviving a Hunter pet.

E n g i n e e r • i s • k r e d i t • t o • t e a m !

But yeah, the heart of the tinker class has been done all around, would be cool to see it happen in WoW. Engineering as a profession doesn’t even really begin to scratch the surface of what a Tinker class could bring to the game.

Machinist felt more machinist in HW, then they ruined it by taking away skills and giving it some out of place turret thing.

Or…or…

We could do necromancers that have essentially been in Warcraft since its inception.

Also - perhaps not making a class that mimics a class from a dead MMO…Wildstar Engineers

Tell me about it? Because as it stands in modern FF14, Machinist is the best example of a boring class.

So long as it doesn’t impede gameplay, I don’t wanna have to feed my pet or buy arrows, ETC.

Your obsession with Tinkerer is insane. We don’t need it.

No no, it should just be a revive skill. So let’s say you were in your mech and had some damage, you could repair on the go. But if your mech was disabled, you’d have to hop out and repair. If you used your Eject/Self Destruct, you would have to summon a new mech and the cast time would be much longer.

I don’t think they’ll bring players flooding back but, its a start.

That would be really interesting, having a mech “pet” that you rode like and if it died you got popped out and had to repair it. however that could be seen as you having a ton of extra health, so it could be a case where you either have less “human health” to balance the “mech health” or you could get stunned/damage taken increased for a while when you get popped out of the mech.

There could also be a case where outside of the mech you lose like 50% of your armor and stamina or some similar mechanic.

Tinkers have also been in Warcraft since its inception?
I’m afraid I don’t see what you mean.

Can you clarify your point? I don’t see what this has to do with anything.

The 3 expansions that added classes are lorded as the best in WoW’s history.

That could be a super fun mechanic as well, allowing for a quick get away, probably speed boost, after launching you somewhere “safe” or choosing to just Self destruct, either also killing your character, or just the mech, but either way being a case of serious AoE damage, probably similar to the Lightforged Draeni’s Light’s reckoning that happens when they die.

Yeah, you just lose a bunch of defenses skills and abilities, basically making you a soft target.

As much as i do love the Tinker idea, and thing those Expansions where they added new classes being the best. I do have to say its probably not due to the new class, but rather due to a lot of other mechanics in the expansion. But also having a new class to play and enjoy DOES make people want to try it out, because its something new!

Were there tinkers in Orcs vs Humans? I think we had gyrocopters…but I recall Necrolytes

You said that Tinkerers were only something WoW could do - but with the noteworthy exception of the healing beam - your actually describing the Engineer from Wildstar (I played one)
