You know hunters can have mechanical pets and use guns right? We are talking about gameplay - not lore.
A Hunter with Engineering can
-Summon mechnical pets to fight for him
-Use firearms to launch attacks
-Toss a variety of bombs and traps which explode/freeze/incapacitate/snare enemies with tar
-Mount mechanized power armor
-Heal allies (pump action bandage gun)
-Summon various gadgets that teleport/slow falls/increase movement speed/control a targets actions/taunt enemies/produce explosive robots
For what its worth - I hope your dream comes true; I don’t see it happening but that doesn’t mean I am actually opposed to it - the logic for it just doesn’t agree with me.
Shoots Arrows regardless of wether or not you have a gun.
One Bomb, and it’s only on survival. And It’s clearly more like a molotov cocktail.
That’s a Mount. Don’t Try and justify this.
That was 2 expansions ago.
I’ll give you this. But you neclected to mention the Poison, animal aspects and nature magic.
I think it’s likely. Like I said the assets are already there, The excuse to add them has existed for almost 20 years. There’s even a Tinker NPC on Exiles Reach.
It’s all a matter of Blizzard deciding they actually want to use those wasted assets
And to be fair to you Avaxxa. I think Necromancers are a BIG part of the WarCraft Lore, and that they need to be represented.
The only difference is that I believe that Necromancers ARE represented, and Tinkers AREN’T.
I personally would rather see Tinker be a race restricted class. As unpopular as that may be! Tinker is whimsical, unreliable and silly. Yes we see other races use tech, that doesn’t really make them Tinkers. Opening it to more races, kills what’s endearing about Tinker, and takes away what is so unique to Goblins and Gnomes.
While I would be a bit heartbroken if they just gave it to most of the races, I’d at least have Tinker!
Edit Not that I’m trying to get in the way of Tinker becoming a reality. I just felt it important to explain why I think it should be restricted.
Horde: Goblins and Leper Gnomes Alliance: Gnomes and Mechagnomes
I mean, this may not be what you’re looking for. But if we got a Tinker Class that used Guns, they would logically be able to Transmog into Bows and Crossbows.
I know it’s probably not what you want specifically, but it’s there.
My dream is that we have cross-specs similar to the system used in “Runes of Magic” and we use those cross-specs to birth a variety of new specializations with outright exotic abilities.
Essentially you exponentially creation Character options in the form of “cross class” - you need to level both classes.
Every 15 levels you have to do a quest based on the combo to get a new skill. (which at this point would be 4 skills)
That would mean adding…528 skills and quests (4 per each character X class) I would see stuff like perhaps a Death Knight x Mage becoming a necromancer.
Your Cross class would essentially be added as another “spec” for your class. You would gain the abilities of both classes and 4 new skills…you would be able to pick “spec” abilities of this 4th spec from the talent rows (example your first talent would be to pick up one of 6 skills - either Blood/Frost/Unholy/Frost/Fire/Arcane
A Death Knight using blink or iceblock…
A Warrior/Death Knight running around with a Sword and Shield…
This is cool as hell, Honestly.
I don’t know if it’s something we’ll ever see, because It’s just so out there. But there’s no reason to stop you from wanting it.
Frankly, It sounds Awesome.
I would combine Rogue and Balance Druid, to be a proper Warden.
Elune / Moon powers + Teleportation and Stealth.
That would be pretty cool - What would the 4 combo skills be?
Runes of Magic (a F2P game) actually does this already. The way they do it is that your “prime” class has most of the skills and your secondary class gives you some of its skills and you get a “combo” skill every so many levels.
For example “Priest” + “Mage” give you “Angel” which gives you a bunch of ice/wind/light based spells and mana regen spells and basically make you a non-stop mana machine.
I think I mentioned cross class in this thread before? Maybe it was a different one… but yes, I’ve wanted cross classing since pretty much vanilla. Your proposed design for it seems a little convoluted and ultimately annoying, what with having to do a quest for every ability… but meh.
I’ve always thought that Titan Quest and Grim Dawn have probably the best cross classing system I’ve ever seen in a game, so I’d go with something more like that if we’re being more free about it.
My original thought for cross classing when I first thought of it was that you’d be able to choose any 3 talent trees you wanted instead of just getting the 3 that comes with your specific class, and then you’d get all the abilities associated with the talent trees you chose. None of that really makes sense with the current system, but with how the spellbook was divided back in vanilla-cata it worked better.
As much as I do like your post, and I do stand by everything you’ve written, I don’t agree with this, Necromancers are as much apart of WoW as Tinkers…
But everything else you’ve written I agree, personally I think there’s room for both Tinkers and Necromancers.
Shadowlands has open up a whole new way Necromancers could work dealing with Spirit and Shadow/frost magic. Completely unique visually aswell.
Like I said I agree with your post but I personally think Necromancers are able to come in aswell.
