My friends and I have kicked around the Idea of a healer that heals with its Auto Attacks.
E.g. Shoot your gun at bad guys to hurt. Shoot your gun at Allies to heal
That’d be fun. I’m personally really into the idea of a tankier ranged DPS that less damage with turrets but has a lot of map control.
Also heals through turrets or some kind of placed item that plays along the same idea of having heavy map/area control.
The Merc/Comm worked like that in SWTOR. So much fun to shoot healing lasers at your friends on that game.
My Spinach Injector 9000 will cure your boo-boos.
Also your Worgen is Very pretty.
I’m down for anything, So long as I can tank in a Mech suit. Just like 1000s of dungeon bosses i’ve seen
Sorry I’m not over bashing this idea. Blizzard already invalidated Engineering in like WOTLK by making it more or less useless.
Thank you very much! Liianas here fighting the good fight for Tinkers. Good luck with it!
Nah. They Invalidated Enchanters in Vanilla when Shamans could enhance their weapons.
I WILL! And thank you for the Inspiration! I would trade shadowlands for this class in a heartbeat. I’m overly dedicated.
Idk you could still enchant and enhance if memory serves, right?
Engineering used to be useful in PVP in BC but since WOTLK it’s basically been for some lame goggles each xpac and a random slew of convenience items. Nothing that actually makes money or makes any useful difference.
Yes. you could. I’m being intentionally ludicrous.
Classes don’t invalidate Professions.
It most certainly is not a standalone class. Which is clearly what people want when they ask for a Tinker Class.
i hate it too shadowhunters would be better and more thematic to this expansion anyways
I’m not opposed to Shadowhunters either. They are mentioned in that most recent BG they put out.
I Roleplayed as a Troll Shadowhunter for about 2 years. I Loved every second of It.
I think a Shadowhunter class would be awesome but I just don’t think it’s likely. It’s too specific. Tinkers are a lot easier to explain. Multiple races could be them, and they would fufill all 3 roles.
Yeah, they don’t really fall into a healer or DPS spec very easily. Both of which are really underrepresented currently.
“Copying” engineering is the wrong way of looking at it.
Allowing Engineering to reach it’s full potential in the scope of the Warcraft universe is a better way of looking at it. Even at it’s best, Engineering has always been a shadow of what NPC tinkers have been able to do. With how much Engineering has been gutted over the years, it’s a shadow of a shadow.
Personally though, I think WoW is desperately in the need of some non-magical classes.
There is only one class in the game that doesn’t use magic, and that’s Warriors. Having another, especially if they managed to make a completely non-magical Healer (which isn’t impossible, considering defensive and healing technology already exists within the WoW universe).
Whereas Dark Rangers are basically a carbon copy of Hunters, only with “beast” replaced by “skeleton”, and Bards implementation would be inevitably disappointing as WoW lacks the capacity for a true support class.
Engineering invalidates Tinkers like Inscription invalidates Death Knights since they both use runes.
Hear me out here.
Regular gun.
Retrofitted to shoot syringes filled with Healing potions.
I call dibs on the German accent and dubious ethics.
Oh my god I couldn’t have said this better myself.
Making a tinker class allows engineering to reach its full potential. I love you. so much.
Vould you like a second opinion?
You are ALSO UGLY!
There’s so much room for Tinker to be unique. Let me throw an Idea back at you:
Tanks Traditionally are not allowed to cast spells. Because spells prevent you from dodging, blocking, parrying, or using defensives.
Why not break that convention. A tinker tank could be all about casting abilities like “self repair” or “Energy shield” to maintain their tankiness. While using shredder blades to keep agro.
The only thing I disagree w/ here is:
- I think Hunters are also non-magical, or at least for the most part.
- If they do go down that the whole “Dark Ranger” route, I really hope they don’t have pets. I hate pet mechanics, they’re so annoying to deal with.
Everything else
I love it.
Make the tanking playstyle controlling the mech from within and putting out fires as they pop up, like you can temporarily supercharge your shields for additional mitigation, but then have to repair them afterwards through a channelled spell.
Though one thing I would want is the ability for tinkers to have unique weapon modifications, because well, they’re tinkers.
In my mind, Tank Tinkers wouldn’t equip their weapons directly, they’d stick them on their mech. But they’d do stuff like run a battery through it, so their auto-attacks also zap enemies, a Healer Tinker (Medic) might attach a grenade launcher to their gun that gives them the ability to shoot healing potions across the battlefield to heal multiple allies, or a DPS Tinker might use custom ammunition that explodes inside the target, doing slightly less impact, but adding a bleed ontop of that for a portion of the damage dealt, kinda like a reverse stagger.
For the most part, but they’re kinda like Rogues in that they’ve got magic for a lot of practical things and not just yeeting it at enemies like casters do.
I can’t see a Dark Ranger not having at least some form of necromancy, since that’s the only thing that seperates them from living rangers.
Tinker could be interesting but it would have to be similar to Engineer from GW2 and have things like turrets, flamethrowers etc.
Outside of this looking through paper RPG’s I think they could take some classes / concepts from them and implement them into the game;
Alchemist - Focus on making potions and mutagens which given them a variety of enhancements, coupled with bomb throwing.
Bard - Everyone knows what a bard is, though we’d probably need a new weapon category for them alone unless we did a monk where they don’t use their weapon tangibly.
Shifter - Similar to Druid but the forms alter the humanoid rather than turning it into a different creature. This being said you can go a little more fantastical also and have three different DPS / Tank specs which revolve around hybrid forms such as a Dragon Form, Giant Form, or say Ooze Form.
Outside of that they still have a select few concepts they haven’t overly touched on yet such as telekinetics, but that is probably hopeful thinking.
They could just start working on new specs instead of classes too, why not just make some tech based specs and shadowlands themed specs for classes going forward (and maybe split the releases between the different phases of the DLC if it is too much initially).
You are 1 or 3 good looking mechagnomes my good sir.
x to doubt. If you play the game you’ll notice countless races have tinkers/engineers/artificers. Human, Dwarf, Gnome, Draenei, Orc, Undead, Blood Elf, Goblin. There is also no reason that other races can’t be taught in a similar way monk was. There is no cultural reason to keep it within the “expert” races like demon hunters had.
