Timewalking in 11.0.5 Scaling Up

This is on the 11.0.5 PTR, and should, if I understand correctly both remove all use of old weapons/item sets, and make it substantially more challenging to run TW.

Frankly, I like TW being an easy mode you can just chill though, because it’s essentially irrelevant content. No one cares if someone wants to equip Dragonwrath on a mage and blow up the entire place.

Please leave them scaled down, this is a change which appears as “fun detected,” and right now Blizzard, you need player goodwill going into the 20th anniversary. If you want to later, drop a poll, and see how it’s received, but don’t do this now.

I hope they reconsider this change, timewalking is great for leveling outside of the usual boring play the same leveling campaign over and over, if this ruins that, I may reconsider my time in this game.

Yep! Agreed!

Someone in charge of development seems to have a bias toward “balance at all costs,” and it’s becoming obnoxious.

To be fair, Blood Furnace and Shattered Halls are two-shotting some tanks. Not the bosses, mind you. The trash.

That balance will be easier to deal with when they can scale it better.

Also: none of that means it’ll be “significantly harder.” Do you even run dungeons in Chromie Time? They’re a faceroll.

This is a good change and I hope they go through with it. The current iteration of timewalking is garbage and possibly the least fun I’ve ever had playing this game.

“Why aren’t there any tanks?”

Because it’s not fun to tank facerolls with people who are too impatient to actually play the video game they pay monthly for.

Timewalking wasn’t difficult when it was first introduced, but it wasn’t as dumbed down as it is today. You got to at least see some older content marginally closer to how it was originally intended to be seen.

Yep, and that’s part of the fun! I run high keys on my main (changes with season), and prog CE raiding, so sometimes the faceroll is really nice. The scaling changes would make it to where things all feel the same, and you wouldn’t get people just blasting because of what they did for a build.

I like that freedom as it sits now, and there’s really no reason to change it. For me, having casual, and unbalanced, content is a nice change of pace.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. Timewalking is either a complete faceroll or it’s two-shotting people. Scaling it like Chromie Time makes it faceroll and no two-shotting.

I suspect they changed something in this last set of updates, because I’ve never seen a TW dungeon twoshot people. And I usually tank or heal them, because LMAO dps queues.

This also has the potential to make the TW raids far less open to the wider community. “Black Temple 610+ only” would become more of a norm than an exception if this goes through.

im failing to understand the issue. in the past week ive used my mage to chromie tbc dungeons and they were fine, minus the random 1 shots lol. this wont make anything harder or take any longer it’ll still be faceroll zoom fest, dw.

also to this

i literally did underbog on my lvl 35 resto shaman and pretty much
walked my way through the dungeon as i barely needed to heal lol.
its not fun its a walkin sim i actually wanna play the game.

Blood Furnace and Shattered Halls. Scaling is insanely off. Lots of posts about it and comments while running it.

Blizzard is removing emergent gameplay that fits perfectly with the theme of timewalking (celebration of past items) just to make things easier on themselves as lower levels can now do TW.

Blizzard’s desire for efficiency is ruining a fun element of the game.

If you want it closer, you’d have full on cc and only paladin tanks be viable in mgt for aoe threat.

I never tanked with CC when the Burning Crusade was current content, there’d be no reason to do it in timewalking, either (yes, including Shadow Labs). CC just meant more things could go wrong. I set a kill order and asked people to burn single mobs while I dealt with whatever else needed dealing with (interrupts, stuns, etc).

To be clear, I’m not saying we should do that. It would just be nice to see a boss for longer than 7 seconds. A dungeon could take 20-30 minutes instead of 10 minutes.

If they are going to use Chromie time scaling, watch the most efficient way to be to have a level 10 blast through and one shot everything. I honestly doubt changing how they scale it will actually work.

This is Blizz afterall, they have proven time and again they can’t balance anything. Look at the changes to mob scaling after early access ended, and again with all the scaling issues of Delves.

Im ok with this. For some reason mt enhance shamans haste is locked at 8% when in timewalking. Every time i get new gear it jumps up and then rubber bands back to 8%. Idk why scaling should just be about numbers but my percentages are changes as well. I mean my mastery stays the same percentsge but haste drops.

Always looked at them as just a nostalgia trip down memory Ln. Something they have always had to tune at times during an expansion much like everything else. Seems to be another change just for the sake of changing something. Some dungeons need more look at. Noticed people getting killed to that mist looking stuff the trash mob spews in The Botanica dungeon earlier, and most ran out of it and were still dying. You want TBC tw’s to be just like they were in the old days, you had plenty of opportunity when TBC classic was around. Tw dungeons are not meant to be pushover easy sure, but by looking at some threads related to tw dungeons some believe they should be mythic challenging, and there is already plenty of content in the game already for that. Tw’s are again a trip down memory lane. And scaling is something Blizzard has been consistent at failing at over and over again.

This. Also, if they just scale it to whatever ilvl the great drops are, it will be much easier in the long run. Tanks can just pull boss to boss without having to worry about some weird trash pack one shotting them.

My real issue with the change is it makes people’s collecting of timewalking gear now useless, which is never a good feeling. I didn’t really do full timewalking twinking but I enjoyed busting out shadowmourne or tarecgosa on characters that otherwise never get to use those items. Now they’ll just sit in the bank collecting dust all the time.

I’m bad and can only do Timewalking on my non-maxed characters, which to me is awful.
