Timewalking Campaign

Hello,

I just reached Level 60 and was booted out of my Timewalking Campaign.

I was under the impression that I could continue the campaign and would only be forced to do Dragonflight if I continued to 61. However I no longer have the option to select Timewalking or lock my experience.

I had hoped to take this character through some of the old content. Help?

That was changed before Shadowlands came out to only be able to pick Chromie Time up to the level prior to the current expansion. Once you hit the starting level for the current expansion, you are no longer able to participate in said time.

While the change was made (via patch 10.1.5) to allow Chromie up to level 61, there does seem to be a caveat for those at level 60.

Timewalking Campaign No Longer Available

Timewalking Campaign choice won’t be available upon reaching level 61 or level 60, if you have entered your capital city, Stormwind or Orgrimmar.

But I have seen mention of getting to it if you choose to expand her dialogue choices, as mentioned in this thread:

Please note, I have not personally tried to access Chromie at 60, so cannot verify if it will work via those dialogue choices.

At 60 Chromie will bug you and basically say it’s time for you to return to the present. When you hit 61, it will force-teleport you back to Chromie no matter what you’re doing. Happened to me on an alt as I was about to turn something in (thankfully I could just fly back to where I was to finish turning the quest in).

Once you do get kicked out of Chromie Time, you don’t HAVE to go right to Dragonflight, you can quest wherever you want (though XP will be reduced by a huge amount if you’re not in current content).

There really isn’t any reason to use Chromie Time at 60 though. You can go anywhere in the game you want to at that point.

That is incredibly frustrating. I wish they had been more clear or offered me some sort of warning.

I don’t need another Dragonflight character.

Okay, I had a chance to test this as I had a level 59 just ding 60. He had even already been in the Dragon Isles.

The choices are there, but like that forum post said, you have to go through her dialogue options. In the dropdown below are the screenshots of my conversation with Chromie.

CLICK FOR SCREENSHOTS

Just dinged 60

Talk to Chromie and select her dialogue option.

Choose “What are timewalking campaigns”

Choose “What timeline should I choose”

Here is the list of which dialogue choice corresponds to which timeline.

I chose Cataclysm and the next dialogue option is the request to be put in that timeline.

You are now given the corresponding quest that takes you to the Warboard.

Click on warboard and then Chromie will be next to it to complete the quest.

Turn in the quest to her.

As you can see, I now have the appropriate dungeons for my timeline.

That worked. But it seems I am still unable to lock experience which is unfortunate.

I might retire this character until The War Within raises the level cap. I assume when that happens I will be able to re-enter Chromie Time with this character?

Until such time as Blizzard announces something, we can only speculate that it will be that way.
