Timers Are Bad, M'Kay?

Semantic lord has left already? new record 0.0

literally no tank is stupid enough to use queued dungeon content as practice for high keys.

the concept of anyone actually doing so is just absurd.

people speedrun trivial dungeons, yes. but weā€™ve always speedrun trivial dungeons.

I wasnā€™t commenting on the hyperbole of OPā€™s statement. Iā€™ve explained my observations over and over.

And weā€™ve explained your observations are false, to anyone who has played the game in the last 15 years.

Exp/hour. Ever since LFD was put in and Dungeon grinding became a method of leveling.

Interpretation of your responses: ā€œI havenā€™t experienced low level LFG people kicking people who are too slow, so it must never happen and I just HAVE to always be right!ā€

Since youā€™re incapable of taking a hint and not insulting me or badgering me or lying about stuff, Iā€™ll just add you to ignore.

Oh no, Iā€™ve even kicked a few myself. Especially afks at the door while weā€™re 3/4 of the way to the 2nd boss. Youā€™re making things up I didnā€™t say.

Yes, it does happen, no one gets a free ride. Hit things or kick. You can kick in combat too now, so itā€™s not even a bother to do it.

More projection from you.

Multiple people have now told you the same thing I did multiple times : Speed running dungeons is as old as the game basically. The timers in Mythic+ have literally 0 to do with it. Blizzard came up with the CM concept based on people already speed running dungeons.

Yes, run from people who know more about the game than you and prove you wrong at every turn. Thatā€™ll help your case. lol.

i honestly donā€™t remember a time when taking longer than required to run dungeons was considered positive.

was there a time when taking an hour to complete a dungeon the average group could complete in 40 minutes dropped like extra loot or something?

There is a legitimate concern here, itā€™s buried under an illegitimate argument about it being cause by M+, but for players coming into an expansion late or learning new roles and specs, normal and heroic are completely useless places to learn any mechanics because they get roflstomped by over geared players.

Which putā€™s them in position of not being able to learn anything until +5-10ā€™s because you donā€™t know what you need to know until it fails you.

Iā€™m not sure thereā€™s a good solution to this. Maybe gear maximum versions of LFD? Not sure fragmenting the community more would work well. Maybe even scale players gear down and work in the bonus bag system.

Ummm. That doesnā€™t work at all, then you have people ruining keys people want to time.

i guess i imagined they could form groups together. there are tons of people who hate timers right here on the forums. they should start a thread or discord server so they can group up! thatā€™s what i would do, anyway

Why not just make modes that arenā€™t timed? Maybe M0 then a 5, 10, 15, etc. you beat that dungeon on those untimed you move to the next tier. The way keys scale it would start getting hard as heck, but people could grind it out. Maybe make the loot scale to 252 at the 20ā€™s mark, 259 at 30s or whatever, donā€™t get hung up on the Ilvl examples. Could be an interesting alternative imo.

i canā€™t think of anything less fun than running a +40 dungeon where the strat is just to pick one mob off at a time, rotating hard cc on the rest of the pack endlessly while you wait for lust to come back up before you kill the next mobā€¦

but my only serious objection to that is just that it would take up more dev time that i really donā€™t think they can spare!

I do not think that it would be possible to do the bosses, or else they would need to be nerfed significantly. Or they could do that thing in Torghast on bosses where you may whittle away their health.

sounds horrible, and like the only real challenge would be having the patience to spend 14 hours (and 20k gold in repair bills) whittling down a dungeon full of mobs 3 seconds at a time.

come to think of it, thatā€™s exactly the kind of thing classic players would probably consider a great time lol

I would personally not enjoy it, but I do not enjoy mythic plus in general as I am quite bad at it. The less I need to be in dungeons, the better!

Theyā€™d say that, only to completely leave the game dead and empty after 2 weeks.

how about this: no one wants to go slow in dungeons anymore. its tedious, its boring, its almost a waste of time.

I want to go slowly in dungeons, so your statement of ā€œno oneā€ is already untrue. Of course dungeons are tedious when you are doing the same eight dungeons for two years. What you feel is boring is up to you. Itā€™s not boring for new players who are already very overwhelmed. Everything in this game is a waste of time if you decide that it is.
