Timers added to Torghast

Well good news for you! Each floor seems to make you stronger to the point of being able to absolutely destroy the mobs. Problem solved!

Nor will literally any content in the game forgive sudden real life emergencies. So what?

I don’t think people realize how ludicrously overpowered you’re going to be by the point you get to floors 14, 15, 16, where these debuffs will actually hurt.

The thing that seemed fun about Torghast was it was a crazy place where balancing didnt seem to be on Blizz’s mind and it was just pure fun.

Guess me and Blizz saw it differently.

This is still true.

Clearly not, or you wouldnt add a timer to make sure people play the way you want them to.

Who is it hurting if someone with infinite time waits 10 minutes between every pull?

Healer Mage Tower, Risen Threat, could go make a sandwich and watch Titanic before pulling the final fight.

Actually, its a good thing they did this, no timer, so much easier climb, with timer, makes it harder which seem alot easier without the timer begin with.

So then what’s the point of running Torghast if there’s no challenge to it? If you can just wipe every floor and get past every floor by just sitting and waiting, what’s the point of getting to the next level?

A lack of challenge is why Islands and Warfronts failed.

“Gameplays really good and it feels great being able to mow down mobs. I’m having such a great ti—”

Blizz puts a literal clock on the wall

“I’m not having fun anymore…”

Okay, but if you get a phone call or your kid needs you – suddenly in the middle of the final mage tower fight, you can’t just hit “pause.” How is not being able to pause a specific encounter different from not being able to pause a floor?

Like sure, I can pause before engaging a raid boss, but it’s not like we’re calling for the boss fights themselves to have a pause in case someone’s kid threw up, or something.

The timers seem perfectly fair to me. They’re just difficulty buffs only on the higher floors, not a hard timer that boots you out. It keeps you moving and prevents cd waiting, you can take breaks from it in rest areas. And they increase the chance that you can actually lose and die instead of becoming an unstoppable god through the other buffs. This is a good and needed thing.

this is an improvement for me, no timer it means nothing

It’s contradictory the point of a GAME. You are playing a GAME. Not a camping in a tower simulator.

You are in the heart of the darkest place in the cosmos. Not ponyland.

How is it ruining it? Seems like a pretty reasonable way to implement it to be honest.

It doesn’t eject you or anything, and you have areas where you can just wait safely should you need to do something mid run.

Honestly leaving players the ability to wait on bloodlust every pull would ruin the game mode substantially more.

It’s not a real timer though, you can continue to progress, it just makes it harder. There is nothing that stops your run completely when you hit a certain time, so that is an improvement still.

With the right anima build that won’t be a problem. Currently scaling is obscene anyway, you will quickly start one shotting packs as is.

I mean it hasnt had a timer until today and literally every tester I’ve seen had nothing but rave reviews of the place.

Yes that is correct, I dont like being timed in my fun.

Yeah and nothing has changed. Everybody still likes it. The reason everybody likes it is still there. All this does is make it so nobody is sitting there for 1 hour in a single level.

Each level shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes.

No one has even played it with the changes yet.

I want to reiterate, for the fiftieth time, that the debuff “timers” don’t matter until you’re already pushing floors above the “normal” expectations of a Torghast run.

It makes sense that, when doing floors that are beyond the expectant norm, you’re going to take on extra difficulty modifiers. These debuffs are more lime M+ affixes than timers.

Actually… people have. It’s what they’ve been playing for the past 4 weeks. Nobody is spending hours on a single level. They’re playing it how it was meant to be played.
