And what exactly would the Horde do about it? Again, unless it wants another war I doubt it would particularly care one way or the other if the symbol was used again, especially considering it would be used by living Lordearon citizens.
Side note, the Alliance also happens to have Terenas’ crown.
I don’t see much point in using the L of Lordaeron all that much. It’s the dead symbol of a land the Alliance hasn’t controlled in 2 decades. Sure we have Southshore, but 1 city isn’t exactly controlling the territory.
If we were going to go harder on incorporating any of the old 7 kingdom’s heraldry, it should probably be one of the ones actually part of the Alliance like Kul’Tiras, Gilneas, or Stromgarde.
Yeah, true. Blizz writers just don’t have the flair to write compelling Lore, sadly.
Conjecture, hints, suspense and mystery are such backbones of great writing! But alas, Blizz just makes lies of themselves and fools of us for believing.
That doesn’t really mean we need to stick to a symbol of a nation that hasn’t been in charge of the Alliance and we haven’t even controlled in 20 years.
It’s used by Blizzard but I think the lion that is also used is a better symbol for the Alliance.
The L makes little sense considering it refers to a nation we don’t control. If we’re gonna honour anybody who was involved in the creation of the Alliance it should probably be Anduin Lothar who spearheaded the efforts that would lead to its creation.
Except said nation is the reason the Alliance exist at all. If anything it would be to honor the memory of someone fallen/a reminder of what started the Alliance.
I am at best ambivalent on the lion symbol. It is just not as iconic as the L, hence why the L continues to be used by the Alliance.
… Turalyon shoved his way through the crowd and knelt by the body of his hero as the warchief laughed and proclaimed victory. Doomhammer’s words - “I have conquered! And so shall all our foes die, until your world belongs to us!” - brought Turalyon to a revelation… …He had not understood how to reconcile the notion of the Light uniting all creatures, while beings as cruel and monstrous as the orcs walked the world, but Orgrim’s comment reminded him that the orcs were not of his world… …Now confident in his faith, Turalyon began to shine with a brilliant glow that forced onlookers to shield their eyes. Taking up Lothar’s shattered sword, Turalyon disarmed Doomhammer and struck him unconscious. Other orcs cowered from him as the light around him grew blinding, and the black rock on which he stood was blanched white by its power.
tldr: Cali isn’t naturally of Azeroth anymore, and Turalyon activated ultra-instinct 25 years before Goku.
We can attribute its existence just as much to Lothar who held together the remnants of Stormwind’s people and is the one to actually convince Terenas and the other lords to start working on an alliance.
Hell the lion IS the symbol of the Alliance on the WoW page for the races. For some reason they’ve just randomly decided that the Humans of Stormwind use Lordaeron’s crest.
