Now I get not everyone cares about the story, but if you do blitz really screwed the pooch this time. It took me until renown 9 of night fae to get the lead up story for De Other Side which I obviously have already done multiple times. Who made this stupid decision?

Yeah. Doing the Revendreth campaign at R8 spoiled Kleia’s character progression for me after getting her an RSVP to the Ember Court. It’s also a little silly that the dungeons spoil the campaign quests. Like Devos suddenly being purple for Spires of Ascension despite not even being a major character in any of the Bastion story.
Let’s not forget the fact the war with Light in Ravendreth has not even been shown in game.
It’s this weird lore bits about a war vs the light and a naru got captured because the jailor needs the light… But all we see is a rescue mission for a naru and no lore build up.
As a father of 3 with 2 full time jobs, I enjoy the time gating of content this time around. I don’t mind everyone waiting because I rarely get free time as it is, it’s fun when we’re all on the same pace and no one gets ahead.
Nothing upset me more this expansion than getting so heavily invested into the Necrolords story… building it all up… and when it’s about to peak on an exciting moment…

The cynical part of my brain is beginning to think the reason for all the stop gaps is because they are writing the story on the go.
-players zoom through all content in 2 days-
WAAAHHH THERES NOTHING TO DOOOOO
I only really care about story in this game. The last expansion made me so annoyed that they gated the story for the war stuff.
Arguably this is worse because there is no other story for me to work on. i dont care about gear chasing and at this point im doing my emissary and the daily stuff in arden. I got yhe mounts i wanted and dont even care to farm anima anymore now.
I loved the story to now but once i hit exalted with the 2 factions on Arden, i will just login on Tuesdays to finish the story.
Im really disappointed because i liked it. I guess its there way of get me to stay subbed for 3 months longer.
Also, its not a matter of rushing through as the troll above my post says. The story in this game is not a priority like raids and m+.
We are going to have less stuff to do and the stuff we do enjoy is locked behind weekly quests to keep us subbed
Timegating anything that’s not What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been is stupid.
I used to call people that talked about the “time played metric” all the time a bunch of crazies. Now I see how right they are…
This is just extra lore they threw in and not a critical part of the story.
If it was important, all covenants would get it.
Also, time gating gives the impression of the passage of time. It would be wierd for everything to happen in 1 second and we are essentially watching a replay of it.
I can only say from a Night Fae perspective, but here’s what happened:
-Levelled to 60 in 2 days.
-Did De Other Side dungeon for loot.
-Find out 2 weeks later in covenant story why De Other Side dungeon is actually a thing and why we’re in there helping Bwonsamdi.
This is bad design, IMO. It is completely disjointed and it could’ve been revealed during the levelling process to make more sense. I suspect we’ll find out the story for Tirna Schithe even later in the campaign.
want to know what’s dumber?
RNG renown level drops.
This thread just seems like a bunch of kids who rushed through the campaign in one sitting crying about their a lack of content, I’m not done with the my renown yet because there’s so much to do! Stop rushing through the game and expecting New content every 10 seconds.
While I am betting you are 100% correct I think that would be better than hitting a wall every few days or a week or whatever time metic they are using for the breaks.
it’s a mix of both, I’m sure.
But reading the other comments, being able to do a dungeon then 2weeks after learn why you do the dungeon, story wise, is bad design, true. That’s bad gating.
And Blizzard should have ignored these people from the start, especially since they usually have less than 9000 achievement points.*
*And I’m not being an achievement snob, I’m just saying that based on history (I’ve been on the forums aloooooooooooong time) most people that claimed this did nothing but level to max then raid or pvp.
But, I don’t think this is about people rushing to max level and complaining there’s nothing to do. Blizzard really is a pro at ignoring most whiners. I’m switching to the crazy side of things and going with Blizzard is slowing us down for the TPM.
When you are limited to doing the story quests on your first toon, being weeks in at this point shouldn’t be considered rushing.
I took my time, read the quests in detail, and i was the last in my guild to hit 60 on main characters, and i still finished the story and am waiting for the weekly updates. If you said this 2 weeks ago, i would agree. Not at this point. You would need to basically spend 1 week per zone in leveling to not have run out of content. Your mocking argument at this point doesn’t hold water
It’s not the content that is time gated it’s the story.
So you run a dungeon and the end of the story happens but no one is even at that part of the story, regardless of who is ahead or behind.
I’m sorry but but like I said before not everyone can play 10 hours a day, some people have jobs and families. A majority of the audience is casual and there’s still a lot of players not even at 60 yet or still in blue gear, so yes it is rushing. I’m sorry you’re finding the game unfun after rushing through it, but there’s 30+ levels of renown worth of content left. Just give it time, it’ll get better.
