Ticket classification question

The short version: [Someone] posted a ton of crafting materials on the AH for 1-2% of market price, and I’m concerned that they might have been hacked. What should I file a ticket under to have a GM look into it?

EDIT: Removed character’s name.

It doesn’t look like anything they offer with pre-determined assistance lines up with what you describe, so I would probably just use the option at the bottom of the page that states “I would rather describe the issue.”

I can’t promise that they’ll look into it and take appropriate measures, but I can promise that you will not learn of any outcome since it doesn’t directly concern you.

If it’s someone you know and have contact with via other means, you can reach out to them and see if it’s the case or not, maybe even send them in-game messages/mail to see if there’s any clarification. I would strongly recommend you do this first, but there’s no harm in being safe rather than sorry.

No, it’s not someone that I know, I’m just worried that I might be actioned. I ended up buying out four of the auctions before I thought “Something’s not quite right” and took a look at exactly who I bought them from. They were all from the same guy, and a quick glance at the crafting materials tab in the AH revealed that they had a lot more auctions posted way below market price.

You won’t be actioned for buying something from the AH. I buy stuff all the time that people have underpriced.

While it’s possible it’s a hacked account, it’s still possible that it’s just someone who doesn’t know the going price, or is trying to dump a bunch of mats etc.

Feel free to report your suspicions, but don’t worry too much about it.

The chances are high, that in a few days someone will start a thread asking for help, that they did not get all of the gold from certain auctions. To which the reply is “You received all of the gold for the auctions you placed, you just did not place the auctions for the amount you thought”.

could just be someone set the wrong operations up if they are a newbie tsm user, they might not know what its worth and just want to dump stock or more logically as Kozzae said, they’ve put something up and missed a zero

I think that at one time or another, we all have accidentally put the price in the silver box instead of the one for gold.

Do that with an AH addon and you might autolist that error a dozen times in the blink of an eye.

Definitely appreciate the vigilance! But as others have stated, it’s more than likely player error. Usually when an account is compromised, the unauthorized users know they don’t have much time with the account and they don’t usually bother with auctions.

If it does turn out to be an odd case of unauthorized access, we can always work with the account owner to figure stuff out when they contact us.

On more than one occasion I have forgotten to change the Stack price to Unit price and underprice my auctions by 1/20th or even 1/200th. I’m much more careful now. But that could also have been the reason for the massive underpricing that the OP observed.
