Thoughts on making old elite PvP gear xmogs

Exactly this. The amount of people that go “I can just get that later” is so high that completely harms the pve community but they dont realize it.

Why would I be spending all this time trying to get 3k for the first time now for a mount when I can just wait a couple years and get it for free? Its like people dont want to put the work.

And that has been a mistake since the beginning of time. Good thing though , pvp has its priorities straigjt and values peoples times and acomplishments.

Gear is not trophy.
Your achievements are.

That is why they exist in first place.

This has never really been the case in any mmo. I doubt it suddenly is now.

Transmog appereances, weapon arsenals and illusions, mounts, tabards even titles hold more measurable weight than achievs. This is rxactly why you want everything back. Too bad though

Well, that’s the reason why I went looking as the guy wanted citations.
Folks won’t read it but it is fun to read articles that actually explain why these things are bad (or good for that matter, even if it isn’t good in this particular case) and… well, folks won’t read the stuff but, it is there.

The long and short of it is that folks aren’t willing to push themselves to do stuff, because folks get scared of failing, and if failure makes them go “I won’t do this at all” and it is then reinforced by just letting people get stuff that are meant to be challenging-at-the-time later… That ain’t good.

Of course that doesn’t mean everything need to be time sensitive or challenging forever but what we have right now is a pretty good balance of stuff people can get, and stuff folks have to put in effort to get.

I would agree with you… if they were really Unique.
These are simply re-colors.

Is this the hill you will choose to die on? To be honest, something of prestige for me is e.g. the CM appearances we have that were removed from the game.

But you know why Blizzard doesn’t do that anymore? Because they spend $$$ (time, effort) to create something that not many people will use / retain players.

And here is why I believe this is going to change very very soon.

If the visuals are available and people have means to farm it, it means they will spend more time in game playing, more player retention = better for blizzard.

Thats your definition of unique. It doesnt matter. Its a reward given for attaining something in a season. Even if they were battlepets my stance wouldnt change.

This is the same cope from.the mage tower crybabies. And given that there have been plenty of chances to change things and hasnt happened im confident that they wont change. And thats good.

I don’t see how adding Elite set tokens in current season to purchase previous elite sets a “free” way that would reduce pvp participation.

I think making them available through current season elite and it gives you a token for your class to buy 1 elite set from a previous season would increase pvp participation.

Every further season you would get current season elite + 1 token elite for your class.

Yet you have no arena achievements above 2k.

I haven’t been wrong yet.

No. Because earning elite sets in blitz and shuffle is a joke compared to actual arena

No it wouldn’t.

That is the literal definition of unique. Not just mine.

The mage towers actually fit into the same category of the CM unique appearances, thanks for agreeing with me. It is good when a defeated opponent stands corrected and accepts defeat.

I think if you read what you posted before doing so, you would actually not post it, but I don’t think you’d be able to see it, because a charging bull sees only the red cape and not the man with the sword.

Every season is different. Ruthless elite set came during a time warriors were in a bad spot, why should you come later when warriors are at the peak of their strengjt to get legacy sets from a diffrrent time? This is the reason why pvp remains the way it is, because no season is the same and no season can be replicated for multiple reasons. So the rrwards should stay locked to those who played that season.

Post on your main and show us even your honor level you speak of pvp as if you were an avid pvper. Show us

I don’t think Balance matter. “I had it when warriors were hard to play” I mean grats you have your achievement to prove it? They could give titles to like “Ruthless Elite” for your prestige. Transmog should still be available in some way.

Not really… its really class based. I refuse to accept even non pvpers think 2s mage rogue is harder then blitz.

Not really. Every class I have done shuffle on has been pretty easy in green honor gear at the end of the season.

Really makes me wish I had people
To push threes with.

at this point for me, they look so junk compared to newer gear i really could not care less

That’s it? That’s the best you could come up with? “Well the system works this way, that’s why they’re comparable.” No effort to examine the effort and skill checks while content is relevant?

No, you don’t actually. I know because I’ve spoken with you before. Not on this character, I just switched to it because I’m currently wearing Elite Gear on it, whereas my usual posting character is not currently transmogged to Elite Gear. Let me refresh your memory:

Otherwise known as “The time you did your usual routine of being really crabby, uncharitable and rude and got utterly blown out with citations and had to concede.”

And one Tier is not the next. What exactly is the point here? There’s an arbitray carve out for PvP Gear that isn’t translated over to PvE.

And tacking a rating requirement on would, by definition, make it not a participation trophy. Again, you can’t be so fast and loose with terminology if you’re trying to attack me for using “FOMO!”

Lol. Quote of the century here!

Oh wow, fantastic. And I’m sure these two links (You couldn’t even put the first through Sci-hub for me first, really?) more or less account for the bulk of field-relevant opinion here, right? There’s been no rigorous work looking at participation trophies or rewards for effort rather than skill that have been shown to be beneficial in some way, right?

Carol Dweck? Xinyi Xu paper? What are those?

Either way, you did barely any work, you act exhausted and now you’re running and leaving? You haven’t sufficiently established that these are participation trophies? You made some weak point pretending “game literacy” is an arcane concept that requires explanation, stumbled over rating requirements throughout seasons, but fundamentally did not address the disparities betwene PvE and PvP nor how tacking on a rating requirement would make this a participation trophy!

Frankly, I’m disappointed, this is sloppy even by your standards!

End of season shuffle tends to be easier just due to the amount of participation. 2s,3s and 10s is odd… the pool is so small its mostly people’s alts fighting each other.

Its easier mechanically but the skill of who you are facing is all over the place.

Shuffle early season is easier imo because you get everyone pushing. End of the day people are more geared end of season.

Not really later is always easier for every mode.

Pvpers barring healers who I love and adore max their gear rather quickly via war crates/ conq boxes.

Everyone fights on a even field pretty quick but the average rating naturally rises as the MMR does.

Best way to explain it is its easier to be top 5% of a hundred thousand players then ten thousand.
