Thoughts on hero talents?

I’ve got early access and playing the hero talents compared to other classes… they are just so utterly boring.
I was wondering what others opinions are.

Boring :frowning:

Fatebound, every time I open I see a coin on the ground and that’s it. I’ll be honest, been playing this game too long, don’t even have the energy to rant about it. Just disappointed.

This whole exp feels weird.

Like… theres so many creative idea’s you could go down with rogue. Deathstalker literally changes nothing in your gameplay, i don’t even want to get started on the disappointment around Fatebound.
the only change i saw was with trickster and even still, minimal effort.
I wanted to main rogue this expansion and blizzard is literally telling me to go away lol

Deathstalker is an absolutely horrible implementation of a hero class.

  1. Requires Ambush from stealth. So if you get caught out of stealth, or get randomly pulled out of stealth from something like the jumping troggs from Uldaman or the jumping Primalists from the Halls of Infusion, congrats you have no hero spec.

  2. It’s bugged and Deathstalker’s Mark is not advancing from Echoing Reprimand combo points.

  3. I frequently find myself losing Deathstalker’s Mark during large trash pulls. Now, I know Darkest Night/Deathstalker’s Mark won’t properly cycle if your Dark Night Envenom kills the target but I am 99% certain that’s not what’s happening in these trash pulls where I find myself suddenly missing buffs/debuffs.

I’m waiting for release, but I am keen on using Trickster as Outlaw for a particular build I want to experiment with.

Using Killing Spree as a buff seems kind of weird though, not going to lie.

Deathstalker is awesome.

We need stealth bugs and the bugs preventing mark from properly cycling with some talent combinations fixed, but functionally it’s amazing and super fun.

Deathstalker besides some clunky things is way better than Fatebound. Trickster could be better than Fatebound.

Playing Fatebound is like trying to give a baby their medicine.

Trickster is so unimpressive that I forget that they added anything to the class until Coup de gras procs and I suddenly lose my rotation for a few globals. And the animation isn’t even given effects or anything to make the animation lock feel interesting, just a few noodle-arm swings.

They managed to both make the talents unimpactful and a nuisance in the same breath. It’s quite impressive that they failed on both ends.

they will probably just give up and make mutilate apply the DS mark for assa, in addition to ambush. sub is somewhat fine with the SD charges, they can move marks np.
the idea of muti applying would work just fine, it’s already proven by caustic spatter.

Deathstalker boring.
nothing changes about gameplay.
stack 3x mark with stealth and consume them with +5 cp finisher for extra damage

Lol dont exaggerate, its not a few globals unless youre already high ping. Trickster plays perfectly fine in this regard.

Sadly, they are the most passive and boring maybe in the game.

Changed zero gameplay. Might as well just have been a tier set bonus

What? No, no it does not.

Deathstalker sub is goated thus far. Coin flips are cool too. Not too sure about trickster though.

Trickster is less strong than Fatebound or Deathstalker, but the utility is honestly really solid.

100% uptime on Tricks and no punishment (aside from the direct damage loss) if you want to move off the crackshot rotation, or if you want to use crackshot, the Coup proc can be used as a setup for the window to deal some good damage occasionally.

Coup also conveniently replaces Blade Rush’s engagement utility when used correctly, so there’s a lot of minor things you can do to make the talents really shine. But, as with anything rogue, player decision making decides a lot of how well it functions.

I’ve also been top damage in every single heroic dungeon I’ve ran, but I’m seeing that falling off quickly as gear scores go up. We will definitely still needs some buffs, at least on the Outlaw side, to keep competitive.

I didnt care the second i heard about hero talents a long time ago. Hero talents were not the reason i bought the expansion or play any class for that matter. I play for addiction and dopamine. Big numbers go brrr

No! I absolutely love it. I enjoyed the constant crackshot RNG for a bit but now i have two other big buttons to press inbetween, the whole ‘fazed’ and distract angle is pretty lame but other than that, i think its great fun.

Just finished leveling my assassination rogue and the hero talents are just awful. Fatebound is just buffs, which is good but incredibly boring. Deathstalker just doesn’t fit the spec at all. So many times in dungeons would the tank pull before the last pack was finished so I’m stuck in combat and unless I want to vanish I have no hero talent. Combine that was stealth breaking constantly it was not a fun experience. When it works it’s good, just another debuff to monitor(yay…).

It also doesn’t help that assassination isn’t in a good place, at least in my short experience after shelving it last expansion. The AOE rotation is just annoying and convoluted, again having AOE tied to stealth just feels bad. Slice and Dice needs to be passive or not exist. There are too many cooldown buffs and having to drop them in a row makes them feel awkward and detract from their individual impact. Energy regen needs to be set in stone and not tied to certain talents and thistle tea needs removed. It feels horrible to run out of energy and be waiting to regen. It forces you into those talents for more energy, can you imagine without them?! Resource talents have always been bad design, they either are too good they are must picks or entirely unnecessary and a waste of talent points and nodes. Looking like I’m shelving my rogue for another expansion, at least until they get some better designed hero talents and the gameplay gets streamlined a bit.

Yeah, they leave a lot to be desired. Deathstalker’s addition of a mark feels like a rut they are going down yet again.

Oh I now have “Deathstalker’s Mark” on top of my Deathmark, and I use to have Marked For Death and I also have something called “Fatal Intent” which is a kind of mark as well?

It’s a design rut.

Then there is pushing of FoK / Shuriken Storm into the rotation that I just think no rogue likes thematically or in practice.
