People need to chill out about this. I ground out both strider mounts the hard way and enjoyed having access to them the past few years. That everyone else can have a water mount in 8.2 doesn’t bother me in the least. Life’s too short to fuss over such trivialities. Just have fun, folks.

I got ugly bug back when current and I for one am glad to finally be able to use a better mount to water walk such as Invincible or my Swift Windsteed anything but ugly bug.
Personally I dont care. Means I can ride invincible wherever now on my alts and not have to worry about switching to the strider on them.

3 of my most used alts also have water striders, so they’ll get the shoes, too. And if need be, I’ll buy the shoes for some of my other alts. But I am not interested in any of the other abilities. I will still use my flying mounts to fly and I will still use my horses as ground mounts, and I will still use the strider for water walking. Just my choice.
I know people will enjoy having their choice of mounts for water walking. And that’s awesome. I never had an issue with the strider and I have no burning desire to suddenly see my horse walk on water.
However, what I may do is research if there are any goblin plane mounts or anything like that, because having a plane land on water would be pretty cool. LOL
I am always amazed at how passionate the discussion becomes, and how many folks really detest the look of “that bug” I never really paid attention to the look of it - I used it for its ability. So in my mind, I’ll just slap on those shoes and continue apace!

I don’t particularly care about the equipment system for mounts, other than it sets a horrible precedence for them to take even more things away and honey hole us into one style of play because that’s what Ion does best because he’s not smart enough to do anything other than p i s s off players.
I am however pi s s ed that they aren’t grandfathering the strider that we time/gold sinked already into the system keeping it status quo like the golem. It’s a huge slap in the face and makes you not want to work for anything meaningful anymore because some dirt bag with a shriveled p e c k e r doesn’t like it and will take it away from you…
yes I’m that upset. I already don’t have a subscription, I don’t pay for anything anymore that’s blizzard based, not extras, not loot boxes nothing. I don’t know how else to send a message to them that means anything that they’ll listen to.

There’s a lot going on in the world that just isn’t right. No matter where I look, there’s people trying to tell me I’m wrong for ….being.
Even in here, I’m told that the work I put into this mount means nothing to them, so the changes mean…nothing to them. I think the mount is cute. I use it a lot, because I like it. I like it’s sound effects. I like that it can stretch up and make this cute little curious sound.
I see people saying it doesn’t sink when it takes damage. I don’t know what server they’re on, or if their computers are different, because my strider sinks when it takes damage…every time…and I have to remount if I want to stay on top of water if it takes any damage.
I am just sad and disappointed that some people feel this is perfectly ok because they didn’t like the strider themselves. It doesn’t even occur to them that blizzard is perfectly capable of designing other mounts that could implement the same ability.
We have the perfect example of what they will most likely wind up doing when an expansion hits. They will take back the ww ability, just like they’ve done with flying. We have no reason to think they won’t.
Blizzard created the ability, gave it to us, and apparently regrets having done so.
So now they feel the need to “fix” the situation, white wash it with the deceptive illusion of giving us choices, and sure as I’m breathing, far too many people (IMO)are buying it, hook line and sinker. Pardon the pun, there’s just no other good way to describe it. So long cute little strider bug. It was fun while it lasted.

I dislike how they counter items that alot of long time players have had because alot of people currently dont have it.
First of all, everyone who want it or care about water walking at all, already have it. But the fact that it comes with a major fix to the water strider is the main reason I like it.
Having the strider means you have put work in the game and you deserve that bonus.
No it does not, I got mine using some badges I had pilling around. You don’t deserve a permanent class ability because you farmed a few badges. You actually deserve a toy or a regular mount, and that is what you’ll get from now on.
they should just update how we get it in panda land with some 2019 dailys or something… i would of enjoyed that better then this.
And lose the opportunity to fix the strider issue? no thanks.

Why does having something enjoyable to the vast majority of the game population, hurt you? You can’t just leave well enough alone, can you? I don’t like the water strider…so you shouldn’t have it’s ability…I hate that bug…too many people always use that mount…I’m sick of seeing it…you need to pay for such a good perk…

You travel too fast…yank a hunter’s aspect. We think you don’t see enough of the continents, yank out some portals.
You don’t spend enough time on the game being ganked by endlessly spawning mobs…kill the water strider.
Maybe they should spend some time yanking themselves, maybe it would put them in a better mood and not obsess over our ability to save a little time once in awhile.

I am reserving judgement until I see the whole thing. So far all I have seen is water walking and daze protection. If that ends up being the case, we got hosed.
Daze should have been removed from the game a decade ago, and Blizzard knows it. They keep introducing items that counter it as just another carrot on a stick to keep us running on the hamster wheel instead of just removing it like they should have done long ago.

I am using a nightborne manasaber and I can easily mount him in the water, jump up and he’s walking on water again. but he does take damage jumping off the top of the boat and loses the water walking ability, which totally sucks. That makes the purchasable ability very sub-par.

It’s not just that they are nerfing the strider, it’s what they are possibly planning for the next expansion and later on with these mount options.

However, if you do any fall damage while riding your mount, you will have to re-mount, which is the same as switching mounts. On PTR if you take fall damage, jump in the water, the mount goes under. You are still mounted, so you have to dismount, and remount. Right now, I can be on my normal mount, get to water, and cast my strider and I’m off running on water.

On live I’ve always jumped off the boat on striders - I use both - on my way to “Not So Bad Down Here”, the underwater pet battle, and they’ve never taken damage. It will be a pity if that’s changed.

I think that Blizzard should have designed the Mount Equipment so that it could have been applied to individual mounts or types of mounts.
What a missed opportunity to have created something that would have been interesting and fun, that would have added character to the mounts, instead of homogenizing them all with the same ability.

Because it attaches a handicap to all other mounts in the game, making players chose between the appearance of their mounts and a class ability.
