Do any of you guys transmog non-traditional cloaks? I don’t mean non-cloaks, like backpacks, banners, etc. I am purely talking about the oddly shapes cloaks (eg, any actual cloak that isn’t full length). The tiny triangle ones, the half cloaks, the ones split down the middle, etc.
Who uses these? I have never seen anyone transmog to them, I’ve never met anyone who thinks they look good. They served a purpose back in Vanilla, when they looked SO terrible that when you got your first REAL cloak, it felt good, but now? Why do they keep making these?

There are a few of these that I use on a few toons.

I rarely mog a cloak but if I do it’s going to be a solid full length version. The “strands” and “shoulder capes” are extra uggo.

Sometimes. It depends on the mog.

I use them a lot. Back sheathed weapons on a lot of toons, especially human female always clip through anything longer. Also, sometimes I like to make a skimpy outfit where no piece of armor is hidden.

I mog them once in a while. Sometimes you want to see the actual tail.

I mostly use the short capes. Don’t like full length ones.
I generally agree the weird “split” ones are kinda gross though. Sometimes I’ll use them on like… Draenei because the full length ones sit weird on the tail and it makes it feel less weird if theres a gap but mostly I just don’t wear capes on Draenei.
On average I probably just don’t mog capes to begin with I guess, but if I’m using one, chances are it’s one of the shorter ones.

I just went and looked and apparently I do.
Six out of my sixteen characters are wearing non-traditional shaped cloaks.
And it is all the for the same reason, that was what suited the character and mog the best.
To give people options.

Yuh I have depends on the mog and tbh shorter capes occasionally look better on my Vulpera then long ones.

Short capes look better on races with tails.

To quote Edna from The Incredibles “No capes!!!”

never. but i never transmog cloaks in-general. i think they’re silly lookin at best, and super-hero-wannabe at worst.
that being said, there’s like, 4 cloaks i keep thinking i’ll transmog to, but i never do (the frostwolf one, the early-level one that looks like bacon, the hami-down cloak, and one of the thin split-down-the-middle WoD cloaks).
I love this tiny triangle cape because it doesn’t cover up all the details of the rest of the set.
(The one I’m transmogging is brown with parchment strips, but it doesn’t show on wowhead unless you preview it.)
Variety, I guess. It’s not like there’s a shortage of cloaks out there. And recently they’ve been doing this thing where class sets share a similar color scheme/theme in a given tier, so if there’s one cloak style you don’t like, you can probably find something else that works.
IMO, they make Far more sense than carrying logs or gravestones on your back.
lol, I really like those bouncy gravestones, though. Especially on my gnome characters, they go all over the place.
