Not even close.
The thing is⌠You have people who play on PS4/5 and most FFXIV PC players play on the FFXIV client and not steam (because steam has different codes etc (except they plan to have you link your steam account so that will smooth it out) and sales promoâs).
Point is lets say CoD or WoW was also on steam, its numbers would be quite low because most people will be playing on BNet.
A person getting in 6000 days of single character grinding on a game that has only been out for a few years would be a hell of a feat.
It would not surprise me really.
Some people can spend nearly 24/7 grinding the game, afterall.
Working a government job?
Not to be that guy, but i donât think $15 million (From just 1 million) a month isnât going to cut it for a lot of devs and publishers mostly these days. They would want that to be daily, or even hourly. Or in Kotickâs case, per minute.
Nobody gives out cheese like the US government.
Millions of subs would equal more microtransactions. Personally, I think they ran out of ideas to keep it fresh a long time ago. They Coulda had both if they had the creative firepower.
Potentially. I mean this is still working with the same prices we have right now, that is very dependent on that plus a lot of other factors, not to mention people wouldnât be plainly interested. You can have a sub for years and still yet to pay a single dime extra to the MTX.
Yeah, but i think itâs important that we gamers agree it shouldnât be focused on, or the very least, shouldnât be largely or mostly focused on monetization at the expense of other elements in the game.
they have players on consoles non steam thats un accounted for, right now FFXIV is way more popular and populated than WoW and if things keep going it will remain that way.
Steam is useful for showing a trend, and this post is also nonsense since no one has any idea what FF14 numbers look like.
Iâll wager WoW Classic is bigger than retail and FF14 simply because itâs such a huge success in China while FF14 flopped there.
Yikes.
New World:
Month | Avg. Players | Gain | % Gain | Peak Players |
---|---|---|---|---|
Last 30 Days | 26,069.4 | -6,318.5 | -19.51% | 50,996 |
FF14:
Month | Avg. Players | Gain | % Gain | Peak Players |
---|---|---|---|---|
Last 30 Days | 19,750.6 | -3,547.5 | -15.23% | 34,354 |
FF14 is about to have more players than New World.
rent free lmao
I think itâs more of a âthe fad is overâ thing more than an actual loss. FF XIV is a pretty old game, itâs almost 10 years old now, Iâm sure theyâll do just fine.
Square has the WoW killer, but no idea on how to realize it.
The original Final Fantasy Tactics, expanded into and MMO, with the original gameplay and world intact, and any FF8-FF# feature added to it.
Your welcome.
I have been playing FFXI (since 2002), WoW since (since 2004), and FFXIV (since 2010) on and off. I come back to all 3. Sometimes one more than another during certain years/expansions. It doesnât diminish any of the gameâs value that I donât log in to the same game everyday.
WoW lost more players since Cata than any other online game Iâve ever seen though. The game looks better than it used to, but itâs not as fun as it used to be.
To answer your question on why subs spike and then drop so quickly: FFXIV is designed that way. The team does not expect you to stay subbed through the entire expansion. Most people come, experience new content, then dip out until the next patch. There is no AP, Legendaries, bars to fill, etc. Itâs not designed in a predatory way.
You can have your strange internal victory or whatever, but thatâs the actual reason.
Side note* logging into FF, Iâm always in a queue. When I zone in there are at least 50 players actively interacting, crafting, playing music, etc within sight. It feels very alive. This is in all cities, not just one major hub. So numbers aside ( wherever you pulled them from ), the experience portrays something very different.
Half Life 3 is the reality we live in now. Youâre already playing it whether you like it or not.
Update ; FF14 lost 100% of players lol
how is this topic still not deleted
Only the WoW playerbase likes to call every new MMO that comes out âWoW killerâ
FFFXIV and WoW are two entirely different types of MMOs
There is a difference between SUB numbers, PLAYER numbers and CHARACTER/TOON numbers.
FFXIV actually has 2.7 million SUBS. WoW has 2.1 million SUBS.
Yea if you count FF toons as subs, you get the huge massive number. If WoW did the same thing it would show as having just over 27 million subs. That is dishonest reporting when MMOs do that.
WoW is actually overtaking FF as both are losing subs but FF is losing them faster.
lol still being a fanaticâŚtrolling thread obviously needs to be shut down. Just trying to stir up negative opinions and feelings.
