This PvP gearing system

True, which is why I am bringing it up =)

I feel like the reasons they have given us for why they made the changes do not match up with their resulting system however.

If they want us to play more (obviously they want this) this current system isn’t accomplishing that for me.

If they want this system to be less opaque and more straight forward, this current system is missing the mark. As Jugajr pointed out: players need to look it up on a website to find out the information.

If they wanted to ‘fix’ a situation where everyone just follows the same gear pattern anyway, well that was not the case for me. I never knew about this optimal path and always looked at what would benefit my character the most. I have not received one gear upgrade from the weekly conquest gear.

Is it because PVE and PVP gear is the same? If so, I have had to PVE to get all my gear because the current system offered no upgrades for me. I used to be able to quickly get blue gear in BG’s (unrated) and save up for the epics stuff. If PVP gear would be ‘too easy’ to get this way, look at WQ’s/emissary and World bosses: They take less time than a 5 cap AB and they give you better loot then I have ever seen from weekly conquest.

Am I missing something?

Yeah I agree. The vendor just feels better. You see all the options upfront, you can prioritize and look forward to things. With the current system the next goal is chosen for you and you have to lookup forum post for the rest and it just feels bad.

Bellular mentioned this in his recent video - Blizzard say that vendors are confusing yet they have tons of other vendors like that anyway in PvE and for sure players can figure it out. There is no pointer towards where to find the PvP chest either.

The true reason why they don’t want PvP vendor is because it will circumvent RNG from PvE. People will just buy around what doesn’t drop for them in PvE.

Yep, boring and unfun is a very good description of the current pvp gear, and gearing system.

The current system strikes me as a combination of hand-holding and randomness, yet it’s designed by Blizzard to give me what it thinks I need and when. I don’t like it at all. I agree, I like seeing all my options and deciding what gear will work best for my play style. Then again, I liked choosing my skills, too.

I wish there was more player customization, where a player can transmog over and over until they have the exact stats and look they like. (Or can we? I haven’t been able to figure out how to do that.)

so, i got a 385 azerite helm from the new raid last tuesday, then two more from emissary dailies last week. you know what i really don’t need right now, a 385 azerite helm.

System is alright it still leaves gearing holes like the other ring trinket back and dw/main hand off hand. If it wasn’t for those gearing holes and the ilvl being so throttled down it would be alright.

Week 4 and 8 are both trinkets. It leaves 1 ring, back and weapon out (unless you use a 2h) Not sure why they left out the back and a ring tbh

Also when we hit the 400 tier, they have two weapon weeks and both rings/trinkets. Still missing cloak, but it’s an improvement from season 1 regardless.

Again, it is not that gear is not there, it just feels worse than buying it from a vendor, for all the reasons I and others have stated.

If this is the true reason…Blizzard should own up to it and address that issue. All the reasons we were given about why we no longer have vendors are not being addressed with this current system. To me, it is worse in every way as I said above.

So, is the real reason, the circumventing of PVE gearing?

In the beginning of this expansion, I totally missed that you could get a piece of gear at the end of each week for capping conquest. I noticed that Blizzard now has that notification in the PvP tab so people will know, but I didn’t know because I was just in game and didn’t read any websites. I’m just responding to having to go elsewhere to learn about things is ridiculous.

I would prefer PvP vendors. However, in WoD, I remember that I didn’t do anything at all except stay in the PvP vendor area for most of my time in game and didn’t do anything else. I do think getting everyone involved with all aspects of the game is what Blizzard is trying to do, and actually they’re doing it pretty well. PVEers have more incentive to PvP and PvP people have incentive to PVE. It might suck, but it sort of makes sense for a massive role-playing game not to separate people. I actually used to be a PVEer and never did PVP, but I remember in MoP, there was a quest you had to do for a legendary and part of it was PvP. It forced me into a battleground and it was the best time that I’ve ever had in game. And I’ve PvP’d ever since.

For the person that said something about how a PVEer would just go get a piece of PvP gear from the vendor. Um, that’s not how it worked in WoD. It took a lot of time to earn conquest to get one piece of gear. It would take a PVEer just as long, so it’s not like they could just go on down to the PvP vendor and get a piece of gear and even if they could, I see nothing wrong with this because at least they earned it.

What I think should happen is they bring back PvP vendors, but also the ability to earn conquest elsewhere in the game. That way PvPers are involved with the content and we don’t have to worry about RNG bs.

I love this about the assaults and the kill X horde player quests, earning conquest out in the world is great.

Yes, was mainly going off first week. Point is they need to fix the holes in the gearing in a better way than making you wait for the next round.

They did fix the holes though. At least 2 trinkets and ring wise.

So you don’t have to to wait until the next rotation to waste a weapon pick on an offhand?

Could come out of the chest. I’ve gotten a few weapons after a bg win. Lower ilvl though but if you do rated might get a higher one.

So then there is still gearing holes in an expac where gear matters again somewhat. They still have a lot of improving to do but it’ll never happen if they continue to weigh pvp gear acquisition to pve gear. They keep pvp throttled by a lot.

i got same plm to all the time feel ya :persevere:

Ok, I just listened to the Q&A about this issue, and it sounds like the issue is that they have to balance getting PVP gear with PVE gear.

So, why not put certain things behind a CP total / time gate but allow the player to purchase what they want from what is available? I think PVP vendors used to have something like this (maybe for a weapon)?

Also, the UI of the vendor is just way better for offering choice, and things that are locked behind a certain amount of CP could be red and not purchasable, just like rep vendors in the game. Over time, more things get unlocked in the vendor, but there is more choice right from the get go. In the end, the result will be the same, but the path to get there will feel much better.

As an aside, it sucks having to choose MH OH vs 2H. For example, Elemental Shaman in PVP needs to use a shield as it gives armour vs a staff. If we had the weapons unlocked after a certain week, we could choose to get the OH the next week and not have to wait a full cycle to get it again.
