This PvP gearing system

feels bad compared to pvp vendors.

It is more opaque and confusing while at the same time, being less rewarding and not motivating me to play more pvp. I am a filthy casual BG WPvP player. People have been saying this system might work for people in this category and I am here to say I really dislike this and waaaaaaay prefer having vendors. WoD was amazing for this.

More opaque and confusing: I have no idea what gear comes in what order, and I only see one example of the two choices I have for the immediate next piece. Why should I have to look up a schedule and possibilities for this online? How is this more transparent than a vendor with all the gear I can buy with the conquest/honor point cost beside it? There are vendors all over the place in warcraft and am pretty sure you can trust us to know how they work. After all, pvp vendors were in the game for how many years? Did you actually get the feedback that they were confusing? I doubt it.

Less rewarding: I have yet to get an upgrade from PVP. Actually, I just checked my profile and apparently I do have a pvp ring on and I had forgotten about it because it was from a random drop? RNG feels lame, it was a tiny blip and then lost. Saving up to buy gear the following weeks was engaging and enjoyable. Gearing alts through pvp was fun in WoD. I would rather no random drops and only gear from a vendor, that felt better, it was more fun.

Less motivating: I loved getting honor points to buy blue gear while at the same time saving CP for epics, I felt I could get to a baseline pretty quickly in BG’s and Ashran at the time, whereas now honour gear equivalent is lost and we have the confusing system that eeks out gear in a way that does not match my character’s needs. I never had a set order of getting pvp gear, I got whatever upgraded me the most. I find I have less motivation to play BG’s, just an observation.

Less control: I had to actually think about my purchases in WoD, imagine that. I enjoy puzzling out what I think will benefit my character the most, this is an RPG for goodness sakes! Now I have to think about looking up a contrived gear schedule and loot table on Wowhead to see how many weeks I will have to earn CP in order to get a single upgrade, if ever. That I have never bothered to look this up tells me something about how un-engaging this system is for me.

Anyway, that is how I feel about all this. I love this game, but I really miss pvp vendors.

What you linked is not in the game anywhere is it? Does the pvp reward quest guy give you this link?

You said you have no idea what comes in what order. That link shows the order. Not in game, nope but it’s all right there for you unlike season 1.

So, this is less confusing/opaque than vendors?

Didn’t say that. Was just responding to you about not knowing an order.

As I said, why should I have to look it up outside the game? I know i could have, but this is my point: it is more confusing and opaque than vendors. To me, this is a worse user experience than what was there before, much worse.

This post was not to find out what piece of gear comes next, it was to provide some feedback on how this system feels to me.

It’s not that confusing. You log in and pvp till you cap Conquest Points each week. The end result is still the same. Just like with a vendor, you have to cap points each week until you get the gear. You can be unhappy with it, but I’m not so sure about what’s confusing about capping CP for gear.

You are just inviting this to be about anything other than your intended topic. Juga provided some info and you got combative.

Did you not read my post? at all?

I am genuinely curious if you feel this system offers a better experience than vendors. If so, what is feels better about it?

Feels the same to me. Whether I chose my gear, or go by this system I am still getting geared.

Very true, I will stop and removed the offensive comment, I apologize Jugajr. I am curious if people feel this system is better and why though.

Hey, I wasn’t offended, no need to apologize. To answer your question, most people seem to dislike this system, but they did make some improvements from season 1. 1: they actually put the order out there (that wasn’t the case at all in season 1) 2: they added rings and trinkets in the mix 3: there are certain weeks where you get to choose between two different slots. I will admit, they should halve the cost for alts or new characters getting into pvp after a certain period of time. In 10 weeks, if you cap every week we will move onto 400 ilvl gear so someone just starting out will have to go through 10 weeks of 385 gear to catch up to where the rest of us are. Short of adding vendors, they have been listening to some complaints.

more time played.

this is the goal for them.

This is what I was trying to say in my feedback, I am actually playing less because of it. There is a real lack of motivation, especially with alts.

Idk I feel like gear in general needs a revamp, maybe next xpac we can see something like that though. Gear right now is just super boring and unfun. A vendor would be nice so you can at least get your mastery haste boots etc guaranteed though.

You’re not alone.

A vendor isn’t going to help your situation of being vs a fire mage and ret though. Not to be argumentative but I think there are more issues, like classes losing more and more abilities, that a vendor won’t fix.

I just wanna know how to get pieces of gear with the secondary stat that i really need, in my case will be haste. Instead of that i’m getting stats randomly, it’s feels like a lottery.

Someone knows? Please.

This is where asking for the reforge guy back would come in handy. If you didn’t get all the right stats, you could reforge a piece of gear to the stats you would like.
