Sorry. I like your posts here and there, but that’s a copout. Whenever you’re doing Mythic raiding you have to do whatever is necessary to push yourself across the finish line. Any kind of edge that’ll give you even a 1% increase in damage can be the result of a boss kill. To shelf that and say “Well just don’t get it” is a bit close minded to what’s going to make the fight overall easier.
You can take the stance that you’re not taking away anything from raiders. But in the process what’s being robbed is any piece of gear for those slots. Even if the clouds part with the sunrays gleaming down and you get a Mythic piece to fully warforge, it’s inferior to Benthic gear.
Sorry. But WQ gear should not even come close to being needed to down Mythic bosses.
It sounds to me like OP is saying that benthic gear is better than raiding gear and he or she isn’t happy with that.
It also sounds like you’re saying that the system we have exists as it is, and any complaints mean suggesting the system be abolished. Even though the suggestion can simply be that it should be altered such that it’s not a complaint anymore.
Making benthic equip effects not apply in raids would obviate OPs complaints while allowing people who only do world content to remain entirely unaffected.
This wasn’t presented as a “do or die” thing and doesn’t have to be. That’s just the hill you’ve decide to watch it from. Don’t die on that hill.
I do not care what Ion said because Ion doesn’t seem to get the non-raiding community OR the casual raider community.
Catch up gear has ALWAYS existed for the casual raider in this game. Be it Pvp or Rep gear or LFR gear or even profession gear. This time around catch up gear happens to be world quests and Bethnic gear.
I completely understand the way it’s supposed to work.
Guess what? I’m a non-raider at this point. I’m not going to be anywhere near that 420 ilvl until mayhap next tier. Next tier, I’ll be way behind whatever ilvl is highest next.
Non-raiders are getting no where near those high ilvls. Casual raiders? Maybe.
Why do people with this whole “I raid just for gear because ilvl=everything” mentality want to hurt the raiding community?
I like how in that image even Lore is looking at Ion like he knows benthic is just about to drop, and is thinking “what are you saying? haven’t you seen the notes for 8.2?”
Implying that people didn’t use an OLD EXPANSIONS tier gear in a new expansions raid because the bonus was so broken it was better.
Even though it was literally over 100 ilvls lower than the new gear.
This is why the “Legacy Bonus Disabled” thing was added.
When gear has bonuses other than stats, it’s just how it’s going to be - it’s going to be better than higher ilvl gear, plain and simple.
It’s no different than a gem socket causing a piece of gear to outperform a piece of gear 15 ilvls higher than it. It’s no different than the Karazhan Cloak outperforming 30+ ilvl higher cloaks for healers.
There’s also a reason Blizzard banned Mechagon items (and something else I can’t remember) from the MDI - because of their added effects.
Added bonuses on items has been around for YEARS. Benthic Armor is just the first time they’ve been added to catchup gear, and raiders can’t seem to handle it, and they need to take a chill pill and get a reality check.
It’s quite sad though that they can offer a piece of gear on the loot table for my rogue that has mastery and versatility as the only secondary stats.
Because in each and every situation that piece of gear at 20-30 iLVL’s higher than a crit/mastery piece is going to be worse on the simulation and worse in actual game play.
And it’s the same for all classes, there are items that drop for their chosen spec that are crap. I have come to the knowledge that the loot table is nothing more than a choice on what weapon, trinket and now essence is going to drop for those who have multi specs that need alternate items.
And it’s literally like 3 or 4 pieces that perform better. Most of the Benthic Bonuses do not perform better than 5-10 more ilvls of primary/secondary stats.
Raiders are throwing a temper tantrum over nothing.
Why do people with this whole “I raid just for gear because ilvl=everything” mentality want to hurt the raiding community?
This isn’t about just raiding for gear. This is about the immense disappointment many players are going to have when they finally down a late raid Mythic boss after dozens, possibly hundreds of pulls, tens of thousands of gold worth of consumables(per player) , only to find an item they received from doing this is not an upgrade for anybody because they all have better gear from world quests.
There’s no way around how bad that’s going to feel. It doesn’t take a game design guru to figure out that more challenging content should have better rewards. It is a video game after all.
Except the items some people have, like the belt I am wearing that has crit/haste and a socket is better than anything that drops from EP at heroic or lower iLVL both inside and outside the raid, and may very well sim higher than all the mythic level gear also.
Yeah. It’s the best in the main location where Blizz pours all of their main resources for PvE right now. And before anyone points out M+ they haven’t done jack except add 1 new affix this patch.
