Though, in my opinion, this concept forgets that stools exist.
The system is designed for regular people who get 10-15 Pearl’s a day, regular players. Just because you are willing to feed 15 alts a day to your main doesn’t mean the system is bad, it means you are cheesing it. Callings for nerfs on the sockets for Benthic gear because its “too easy” for you to get is like me as an American saying “I’m fat because there is too much food, better cut world food production 30% so there isn’t too much for me”. I’m all for the Benthic procs being cut in the raid. Just don’t nerf anything else.

The thing I wonder, is why aren’t people arguing for benthic bonuses to be added to the raid gear?
Every argument about benthic gear being better than raid drops seems to imply they want benthic gear removed. Wouldn’t the better option be add the high powered benthic procs to the raid drops instead?

an no there isn’t an issue things are fine… if you raid mythic or anything of the sort you’re already doing better then me and im ilvl 413 with a bunch of 400-425 items. (well a mx of them at least)
idk about everyone else but I have argued for exactly that before. I still got called an elitist for it though.

Now where does he say non raiders shouldn’t have gear progression, he never said remove benthic gear, never said remove upgrades for it, simply that the effects are far to powerful for its ilvl, and are outperforming the gear you acquire from the most high end content in the game.
None of this is relevant to the discussion in any way, shape, or form.

None of us are particularly interested in bringing the top end down. Mythic and heroic raiders will always have a better overall ilevel than me. But I still want a progression path, and if it peaks too soon then I’ll unsub because there’s nothing else to gain until the next patch. And since blizz wants those sub dollars, they’ve designed a system for people like me. Diety forgive I defend a system I like. Unlike most of the raiders in the forums lately I’m not asking for any of your stuff to be nerfed or taken away.

Because the content that you partake in is exactly where some BiS pieces are put in. If you want a progression system just like Benthic then cool. Fine. Whatever. I don’t care about that. What I do care about is when the gear that you’re getting is stronger than the pieces of gear that drops fully warforged on the hardest difficulty in raiding.
At that point it’s not even progression for anyone that’s wanting to do anything harder than World Quests.

The DPS bonuses on Benthic were a mistake. It should have been utility, or fun things like the Murloc Trading Game. Nobody cares about damage to abberations when you’re questing, just like no-one cared about damage to beasts back in MoP.
Until you make a raid where some of the harder bosses are that specific type and then suddenly the racial nobody really noticed is extremely strong again.
Personally I don’t care that casuals get 425’s. Farming M10’s gets you 430’s anyway. Just make it so Benthic’s bonus doesn’t work in Nazjatar and the system would be perfect.

To each their own. 
If you only want your gear to come from the raid then just don’t do anything else but raid. Problem solved. Your gear is based on your raid progression. If your going to do other content because it might be slightly better gear then really all you want is better gear. That’s really a you problem, not a gear design problem.
Again, not trying to take anything away from raiders, just defending the system blizz gave us all.
