I saw the update in wow head, and for a sec I was hoping some buffs to survival, maybe some changes to the talent tree. As expected not a single note besides the general changes that all specs are getting.
blizzard doesn’t seem to be caring about hunters in general tbh
a lot of other classes are getting issues addressed coming up but here hunters are, still constantly dying to unavoidable damage with everything on cooldown and bringing nothing really special to their groups
the insanely vindictive vocal minority that seem to be bent on taking their ire out on the players instead of blizzard certainly aren’t helping, for sure
ill take free dchaks and ss damage though, don’t get me wrong
I take it out on Blizzard all the time. As far as I’m concerned SV doing badly is primarily Blizzard’s problem so I’m happy with that. As for the people who play it: meh. They often defend it all the time so I’m happy they get screwed too.
you could help us design a cohesive melee spec instead of constantly spitting in our faces because 3 people on these forums (who mostly pvp btw, where it is actually fine, which is where that perspective comes from) insist it’s fine instead of constantly derailing threads and being snark/bitter
i don’t really agree that survival should’ve randomly gotten made melee when literally no one asked for it but i do enjoy the spec’s bones as it is now, and i’d be pretty sad to see it go away (which i understand is insanely ironic given the rework) and would gladly love to see it’s current entire kit get pushed into a 4th spec to have survival returned to a ranged spec and have this current iteration have it’s own proper identity and tree instead of constantly trying to maintain roots to a traditionally ranged tree, which is only having some sort of schizophrenic identity crisis where several roots that are discordant to each other are being drawn at once from separate places, instead of having an organically built spec
it does nothing to constantly bicker amongst ourselves and constantly lash out against each other because of something blizzard did for basically no reason
I personally enjoy melee survival, there is something about it that makes my tickle, that being said, I do miss range survival. I am not sure what you mean by spitting in people’s faces; I tried to bring constructive feedback to the idea that are presented by other players and the developers. I agree with you that this spec has identity issues, but the developers seem to think that it is amazing when in reality has major issues. I’ve said this in the past and ill say it again; Blizzard is not bringing back range survival, and yes that makes me sad; but if they were to develop a solid melee spec would be much better.
this was mostly directed specifically to bepples, he has a large amount of spats with people over msv v rsv, to put it lightly and kindly
there’s two camps on the forums of two very small minorities that are stringently against one another and seem to take every opportunity to attack each other without actually addressing the inherent issues with the spec currently, instead talking about either how something it either functions in an anecdotal fashion, or how it used to function; which does nothing for it right now
Players dont care about MSV, as indicated by the miniscule play numbers, so why should the devs care?
They only let a spec-defining bug with the bow run for over 3 months and dont even bother to hotfix it, but let it run for probably another month. This is regarding the vastly more popular BM and they barely care, so no surprise theres not much going on with SV.
He physically can’t. He does not play melee, he got no idea how it operates
Not lashing out. Just stating what he has said in the past
all good brother, I do feel like we as a community need to find common ground and find way to improve the hunter class a whole, no matter what spec we play
Why wouldn’t we be vindictive?
Blizzard literally took the spec I mained and removed it from the game, in order to replace it with a melee spec that nobody asked for and nobody has ever played. In an expansion where they also added another melee DPS class in a game that was already oversaturated with melee DPS specs.
Melee Survival was the worst thing that ever happened to the hunter class. Hunter has been weaker in all facets of the game since it was implemented because it removed 33% of our spec choices.
interesting word choice
but you see
why are you taking it out on your fellow players?
Because if they are asking to keep melee survival, then they are actively campaigning to keep hunters in the poor state they currently are.
Melee survival existing hurts the hunter class.
not really sure why melee automatically translates to poor state
are warriors in a poor state because they’re melee?
what about paladins?
maybe even rogues are in a poor state because they’re melee?
each spec is essentially treated as it’s own capsule and you’re blaming the misfortunes of the entire class on a single spec as a scapegoat with no actual reason other than spite
there’s no real reason to continue discourse with you on the topic, it’s clear you have nothing productive on the matter nor will you ever
i wish you a good day, and good luck on your vaults
I’ve explained the reason a couple of times here already.
Having 3 specs is better than 2. It increases the likelihood of one of those specs being good.
Melee Survival might as well not exist as a spec. Nobody ever plays it, because people play hunter because they want to fulfill the role of ranged DPS.
To answer these questions:
-
Right now all 3 warrior specs are doing great. But that wasn’t the case in the first month of the expansion. At that point, they only had 1 spec that was really good (prot). If that spec didn’t exist, the class as a whole would have been in a really bad state.
-
Same for Paladin.
-
Rogues have 3 dps specs to choose from.
This is needlessly juvenile.
And the above. Who gets this upset about video game details? People who need to reevaluate themselves generally.
Being able to pick from 3 specs leading to greater chance of one of those specs being meta is not an opinion, it’s basic logic.
This is literally the reality for mages and warlocks in this season.
In both cases, what is typically regarded as the “least popular” spec for both classes was actually the only spec that was competitve for each respective class (Arcane, Demonology).
But because these classes both still had a spec that was good that they could choose, those classes were never really disadvantaged.
Now imagine if Arcane didn’t exist, and mages could only choose fire or frost at the beginning of Dragonflight. That is the state that hunters have existed in since Hellfire Citadel.
