You still have to complete the instance. The difficulty remains the same.
I’ve always have been against the timer, even though i do 18+s. The timer is stupid and should be removed. Only thing the timer should do it guarantee 1 extra piece of loot. Not if you get 3 pieces of loot and a more difficult key.
Completing the key in 30 minutes or 10 hours is still completing the key. Period.

No completing a key in 10 hours means you could do it with 5 tanks using cc on every mob so you have 1 think to kill at a time and it would be almost impossible to die.
They are not even close to the same thing. You might kill the same mobs and do the same total damage but the task is verry different.
I think removing the timer opens up the field to more people, participation, and encouragement to keep going and try more difficult things. The perfect Mythic+ system, would be to imitate what Destiny 2 does for their Nightfall system. It’s not a timer ticking down but a timer ticking up. The faster you do it, the better the loot; however, even if you take hours to do it, you still come out with the minimum loot. Everyone wins in the end.
I agree to disagree with you.
but why would anyone want to spend 10 hrs in a dungeon… and even if they did… who cares?

The only reason would be to get gear they are unable to get otherwise. I don’t think it’s good for the same for everyone to be able to get everything. People should earn their gear upgrades by being good enough. And the task is verry different with and without a timer.
If people want to take the rewards off and take 10 hours then sure more power to them I hope they have fun. I don’t think that is the case though.
If i do it in 10hrs and get the same gear, does that hurt you? the only prob really would be if people with different mindsets grouped up, one wanted to go fast, the other slow… also its makes boring coverage if you want to esport it.
Not directly but if doing crazy long high level dungeons becomes the best way to gear then it does hurt me because I now have to do it too. I don’t see anything wrong with not everyone being able to get the best gear without earning it.
When I started I was terrible at the game and knew it. I knew I was never going to kill illidan because I wasn’t good enough I didn’t blame other people for not carrying me. I wasn’t good enough to do it and that OK. I just didn’t do it. So i got better. Idk what it is with people not being able to accept that they just need to get better at things but it’s a bad trait for people to have.

I got no arguments with what your saying im just questioning why a timer is needed, i guess you answered that from your point of view, but your throwing around the word ‘earned’ now which raises other issues which i dont really want to get into.

Because it’s more exciting to watch on twitch.
The game is designed for people who don’t play it, these days, not for those who do.

Imo the timer is needed because it naturally filters people into roughly the right level of key. I tried 23s and couldn’t time them so my keys dropped back to a level I could push. It stops everyone having hyper inflated keys.
If people could increase keys in 10 hours they would then have massive keys they cannot complete in a reasonible time frame and people would then list them in lfg looking to be carried which Imo happens too often as it is.
Edit: wow a discussion on the Internet where we ended up agreeing and didn’t even say anything rude about each others mothers! Have a good day

I mean, maybe you’re part of the problem as a DPS, so you don’t see it as toxicity at tanks?
See, I can make a sweeping generalization too!

I’ve found tanking to be alot more stressful role as out of everyone in the group your expected to know everything and pretty much lead from start to finish.
I haven’t healed this expansion thanks to the absurd gearing curve but I found its more of a task of paying attention and occasionally screaming at people for standing in bad stuff.
I mean, just because it hasn’t happened to you, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
I also stopped tanking from MoP to BFA because of anxiety attacks from some…well…real winners in LFR Throne of Thunder (my first real raiding experience since I started playing period).
Came back to tanking this expac, but I won’t do any kind of raiding or M+ because of said anxiety.

Drought BFA’s current content maybe
it’s “cute” that a DH tank with over 1m hp constantly (if using gluttony build for easy weeks) with TD rank 6 shouldnt out dps… other dps specs specially with some decent haste %.
But hey… a 16 these days and pugs issues .
While I want to agree with you… Even just pugging heroic raids the toxicity exists, perhaps moreso. One death is an instant kick, and a wipe… Well the group simply doesn’t exist after that.
Just mean to say that the timer isn’t the issue in the overall picture.

This is why I never attempted pushing keys in BFA. Like all things in WoW over time when a meta develops and the community as a whole understands and has more experience in a certain gameplay scenario pug groups become filled with toxicity. Hell the first BFA mythic + I ran during the first week they were open had a rogue that pulled and extra group, wiped us but blamed the healer and quit.
This marginalizes all the difficulty of m+.
