Retail pvp is bad because it gets zero damn attention. We go a WHOLE expansion with zero updates to epics vehicles and npc health to compensate power creep. Zero communication also. I’ve literally DMd top devs on discord to just be ignored with zero aggression in asking simple fixes to things. PvP should be a f2p aspect in this game with a optional paid battlepass to grind for cosmetics and mounts/toys. They run it like one you can find on steam that’s been abandoned.
If they spent time babying pvp like they do M+ and raids it would be huge and flourish. Too many pvers who choke on the sweat of their anxiety having to attack at another person on their screen instead of a scripted boss where an addon thinks for them and tells them when to move. Skynet has already won.
its because PvP in this game is just plain bad, and I only do it on occasion and it always makes people angry. I dont chase rating, nor do I min max. I just sign up and whether I win or lose, I have what fun there is to be had.
I remember when arena you could make and name teams to participate. Just grab a couple guild mates who didnt treat it like a job to just have fun.
If they brougt back arena teams then there wouldn’t be this problem. You would be playing with people that you know and could only ever play with people of a matching MMR to your own and a CR that’s you had would all be shared by the active players on your team which then would put you into matches with another team that had similar xp to your own so that way you do not get stomped by full epic geared toons on your newly geared PvP alt toons. Teams were better. Well over 10x the PvP patriation when we had teams. Bring back arena teams for sure. Then you make friends from there and can do RBGs and Blitz based off of your team’s setup.
I somehow got to 2700 mmr for the solo ranked bg at end of s1 just trying to grind for the mount while my skill is probably 1800ish for RBG. I got cuss when we lose and I got cuss when we win(just because I didn’t play the correct strat). Its so much pressure and I didn’t even get the mount at end(only got like 70%). Just feels like shi.t, I don’t even like pvp that much but I’m a mount collector, it feels so awful to grind it.
oh also I played on my disc priest, why is the dkt grab still a thing? I remember it started back in 9.0, 1dkt can take half of the heal away, its just bs.
This is ACTUAL CANCER btw. Even when I turn pet bars off, the pet bars reset again every match. It especially sucks when I’m about to land a trap to keep someone from capping a flag and then their damn 1OF 1 BILLION PETS COMES OUT OF NOWHERE TO GET TRAPPED INSTEAD. 1 or two hunter pets are one thing, but DK pet numbers are ridiculous!
stuff like this is why i havent pvp’d for like 10 years
even if you tried a lot you still might not get the few things you want by the end of the season, plus the balance is so out of whack it isn’t even fun most of the time
Here’s the thing… there is indeed this problem in SS.
There’s always someone who, I don’t know a good example, but, han…loves playing as Enhance Shaman, or with a very nerfed spec, and will lose every round.
Or it’s simply someone who plays well but ends up in a match where ALL the classes counter them…and this happens for all day long.
So, they can try really, really hard and still only win two rounds. In this case… the only solution for this in SS would be to change the scoring to be based on rounds won, not rank.
The set is unlocked at 1800, right? So, you need to win 1800 rounds to get the set. It makes some sense because if in an SS that took 20 minutes in queue, you win 2 rounds, at least you’ve progressed +2 towards your goal.
just think about it : 10~20 min in queue…just to get someone who DC or…4 DPS classes that counters you…and you end up with 2/6 …and need to wait more 10 minutes for the next round…that’s…absurd.
Now, if the goal is to get to 2100 or Gladiator, that’s only possible with a specific class, a specific set, and a lot of effort…and they could just let someone got gladiator based on rank, so it’s just the current rank system.
For me, being from Brazil with 120-180 ms, it doesn’t work (the 2,1k~gladiator thing), but for you guys there, it might be better, and of course, with a good class (overpowered) for that.
BUT if it’s someone who ends up 2/6… 3/6… they usually just want 1800 for the set or to farm the mount…so the point system per round won makes more sense to me.
And with this, maybe more players would join pvp arenas.
I am also Brazilian . With this Paladin from Moonguard, my ms is around 180-190. With my Monk from Stormrage, it’s around 150-160. I kind of regret going to Moonguard.
I have no idea what it’s like to play with 30 ms. Does it make a big difference?
I can only speak for myself but I have absolutely zero interest in 5-10 minute battleground fights or the arena. I want real mmo pvp but wow doesn’t have that anymore.
Yes, it does. I’ve traveled to the USA and had the experience of playing there… yes, it makes a huge difference, everything feels much smoother. For Gladiator, which is something very ‘tight’ to achieve, I believe this is quite important.
I don’t doubt there’s some Brazilian who can do it, but it’s difficult with this disadvantage…
Human reaction times are, at their fastest, on the order of 100 ms. So if your ping is 130 ms and you’re fighting someone with 30 ms, you’re a full reaction time behind them, always, and that’s a very hard hill to climb. You’d almost have to be good enough to anticipate what they’re about to do and then move based on that.
If you feel the current solo modes are a punishing experience(when theyre most inflated modes this game has ever seen) then you are most likely the problem and need to improve.
