I don’t know how this version of the game is called classic, they keep removing/adding stuff that wasn’t in the original version, this is some wierd abortion of a version we used to have.
This is a really well thought out and discussion-provoking post
Hey Thanks!
I don’t see anything wrong with it personally.
There’s nothing wrong with adding things. There’s a lot wrong with removing things
Obligatory “there’s no reason we can’t have both”
If it was the original version it would be called original wow, classic didn’t exist in 2005
A better approach to this you can try to view it from is we now have the ability to look back and say hmm what did we do wrong and what could have been done better and I for the most part think most of these changes are directly addressing those thoughts and ambitions some may disagree but there were people unhappy with the way things were back then sometimes too you aren’t alone but this also isn’t some kind of new problem being addressed
They need the practice for classic+. SOD and now here in MOP you saw some wild swings at a lot of wild pitches. Some work out most end up falling kinda flat. Let them cook… hopefully they continue to make changes to get things more in line. You have seen it a bit already. Insane class changes at first and then a few walk backs, a few smaller changes in between, and they probably aren’t done yet. Right now they are trying to solve problems with hammers instead of scalpels which is a normal step in learning.
As long as they actually follow though with rolling some things back on phases and aren’t afraid to course correct against changes they made in an attempt to make the game more competitively balanced it is hard to complain. If they suddenly disappear mid MOP and let it go wild then sure… go full dump truck on them because they deserve it.
They had a second chance to look at expansions after having released them once (or more) and with now 20 years of experience and how the game has evolved. They saw things to improve and things that the community was calling for. The #NoChanges group from early classic that wants to stick to Vanilla for another 4-5 years is free to do so. The rest of us want a game with basic QoL and updates to refine the game and sand off the rough edges.
