So basically i’m finishing my kyrian questline. so far i’ve done 2/4 so this is my 3rd cov i’m finishing. 2nd to the last quest takes place in the maw. and expects you to go into a dense area of level 61 elite mobs and find foresworn to save.
BUT it also gives you ‘wanted level’ and if you visited the maw in the past and already have a wanted level it of course rolls over to this quest. so now as a 163 quest green character i’m expected to deal with Eye level 3, while fighting 61 elite mobs that pull 2 or 3 at a time, that also slow you, also while being bombarded by eye level 2, with broken gear, with no mount, and my reward is a cape item for transmog. Lol hello blizzard? hello? hello???
Welcome to the Maw.
Population: No thanks!
leave and come back tomorrow when it resets
fun mechanic
Go Prot and LoL your way through it
yeah when you get 1 hit by level 61 elite mods and have to deal with wanted level 3 that’s not a challenge at all. there’s no way to over come this challenge besides to be in gear…which is literally a catch 22 because i’m doing this… for gear. Amazing how i locked myself out of quest because of a previous quest that takes place here. and that’s some how my fault PLEASE tell me why playing the game literally punishes you now???
I literally on my character dont have enough damage to kill the elite mobs. i’m being punished for playing the game! Ilevel 163 btw. it’s heroic level gear which i know isn’t much in today’s world. but lol? i need above heroic in order to do a story line quest? while the others don’t? makes sense!

They struggled for years to make a “challenging world”, most of the challenge sat in instances. I can’t say for sure, but I think the maw was their go at creating an immersive, challenging landscape instead of “yolo mounting through 30 mobs to get to what I want”
The wanted level resets daily. Come back again after reset if you can’t get it right now.
getting super angry because you don’t understand how stuff works.
go back tomorrow.
don’t touch any side quests or objectives.
don’t do any chores for Venari.
don’t do anything other than quest you’re needing to do.
win.
That’s normal. Like Ion said, “you go into the maw, get what you need done, and get out quick”(summarized). You need to wait till tomorrow.
Tried asking anyone in General to help ya out?
Waiting until tomorrow is stupid. What if she has time to do it today? What if she just wants to run mythic plus or raid tomorrow? Work on an alt?
Then you’ll get that in 9.1 when they remove eye penalties.
They designed this stuff around people playing when it first released.
Having all the renown catch up breaks the pacing. They did not account for it and getting sent to the Maw in areas with elites as a relatively fresh 60 is no fun.
The Eye of the Jailer is just insult to injury in your case, but it resets daily.
then they stop complaining, and die and die and die and die until it’s just insta-death on respawn.
then wait until the next day.
it’s not complicated unless they want to make it complicated.
The NPC and the sword are really tanky, they can do the work for you.
Also use mawforged keys on the weapon racks for some powerful buffs. I like the interruption one cause I don’t have a lot in that department.
I already finished it. but the whole
“uhhh guys, all you gotta do is wait 12 hours. don’t do anything, don’t play the game, reset your computer, spin around 3 times, eat a carb free diet, pee standing upside down, toe your toes, wiggle your nose, and then it should go back to normal!”
I shouldn’t be punished for… wait for it… playing the game maybe?
i did it by just sitting up in my chair mage tower style and cycling interupts, stuns, lay on hands, shields and bop. using word of glory a lot and spamming flashes of light. cycling shields and using kiting with hand of hiderance on multiple mods in order to spam flash of light. Mind you it was also level 3 wanted level so i’m dodging mortar fire and an assassin as well as fighting level 61 elite mobs. yeah it was just that easy.
A lot of people are saying “wait until tomorrow” and that fixes part of it, but not the main problem of it, in that players progressing through the cov storyline (most likely less geared players) are thrown into an unphased Perdition Hold, packed with elite mobs. The quest could be very easily fixed by just making it into some kind of instance (ie when you zone into the Maw while on the quest, you’ll zone right outside PH and be in a phased section). It’s an unusually difficult quest, considering nearly no other campaign quest makes you fight elites without a huge buff/army of allies to help.

Now what if a new player didn’t know how to do this? ilevel 163 btw.
I can’t wait till tomorrow, I’m going to call text my mom and tell her after 30 years she’s finally right “what will help me to beat that game is turning it off and cleaning my room”
Totally agree. now since i completed it i feel a whole lot better but i only completed it due to luck with the mortar strikes and my game knowledge. that was insanely hard and frusterating and i wasn’t at all expecting something like that. If it was an end game zone and i was in raid gear doing a challenge, yes, i would expect something on this level. but cycling interrupts, stuns and shields and LAH and bop and kiting with HoH and WoA? for a quest? wtf was that? no one new would have been able to do that.
