This is how to disable Spy, Blizz

yeah and how long are you gonna stand around spamming it hoping for the rogue to be stupid enough to walk into it

I think the point is that without the add on the mage would not be spamming in the first place…

but it doesn’t prevent you from playing your rogue just wait it out like a rogue should then destroy him when he goes to mount

Um, maybe … just maybe … stealth out of range and sneak in to combat the fact that you using an ability on yourself comes up in the combat log?

As in … be stealthier? You know, silent but deadly.

wait him out from what? Maybe the rogue does not use spy and does not know that the other player is cheating.

Using components of the game that are available to everyone is not cheating.

im confused spy doesn’t tell you someone is using spy or using aoe spy does not tell someone that you are still around it just alerts that stealth was used if you sit there for 30 minutes watching him aoe he still doesn’t know if you are there

Yes, this is another problem, the add on detects stealth for at least 200yrds. 2 football fields. How far does a guy got to go to get away. And with the networking in party, raid, or guild, it broadens that exponentially. There is a pic on the add on page that shows over 1100yrds range. So tell me be good and go out of range of the add on…smdh

not sure if I am reading correctly, because your sentence is one big run on. But no one is going to sit for 30 min watching anything. Rogues move like turtles in classic. To move out of range or to move up to someone to attack is not as easy as people think

im glad my words confuse you

its not the words, its the lack of punctuation. There are examples but probably not good to post here lol. But one is helping jack get off his horse.

nah you are confused

Ignorance and lack of reading comprehension on what Spy is actually doing.

Folks aren’t paying attention to any combat log, Spy does that for you and then sends you a audible alert along with a pip showing up on your mini map for anything it finds, IE: stealthers going into stealth, even at a good distance away triggers Spy to give you an audible alert along with a pop up window that displays the name of the character (stealther or not).

Spy does a decent job on informing players of nearby players (eliminating the need for situational awareness).

We did not have this in the original Classic game 2004-2006/7 (at least no one really ever brought it up if it did exist back in those times which I don’t believe it did because Blizz is using current tech and updated parsing systems vs what we had back then).

At the end of the day, yes, Spy does give advance warning of enemy players in the area and greatly reduces any stealth play.

Spy is updating via the parsing “heart beat” because you could be standing on the ground, an enemy player flies over head going from 1 flight point to another and triggers Spy, which in turns lists the name of the player on a separate window along with the audible alert.

Not sure how else to make it clear just how unfair Spy is and yes, Blizz should break it.

Very well said.

people shouldn’t use threat meters because we can mentally calculate our threat by watching our combat logs and doing math in our head

I think the point is that if the rogue had used stealth in a better location the mage wouldn’t be spamming in the first place.

It should be called -Increased Awareness- instead of -Spy-. Since this is all it really does.
It doesn’t stop anyone from stealthing or using any of their abilities whatsoever. Seriously all the complaining is about this increased awareness the addon supplies. So rogues only get the initial surprise attack their abilities allow them to get instead of the multiple attacks they’d get if they caught someone unaware of their presence.

Well since awareness doesn’t break any rules, all I can say is tuff stuff buttercups.

Does spy tell you when they leave the area?
